Very poignant. I wonder how many of us old guys narrowly missed having one of those with our name on it. What have we done with the time left until the VA issues one with our name on it? How many of those stones indicate the end of a life which might have done something amazing for humanity?

I agree totally. Bunch of kneeling woosies. Need to shut up and put on a military uniform instead of woosie suits.
Real men dodge bullets wearing military uniform on battle field, instead of idiots on sports fields/arenas!

Way too many. They should show this photo at football games instead of overpriced crybabies kneeling for the national anthem

I totally agree with you. It reminds me of the football player Pat Tillman. He gave up a football career & died for his country in Combat. I think he died in Viet Nam. Don't remember which war now. Also how many movie stars & sports legends joined the military & fought for our country in World War II. Even Elvis Presley served when he was drafted in a non war year.

Too many women. They were not built by the creator to carry a weapon, more useful as caregivers.

I looked up when Football player Pat Tillman died. It was in 2004 in response to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. He gave up a promising football career to serve his country. He gave the Supreme sacrifice. RIP Pat Tillman.

Pat Tillman died in Afghanistan, enlisting after after the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers. A very good and brave man who felt compelled to represent his country in the process of insuring that the base of operations and the freedom to walk about was denied that particular group of murders.

Then there was that great American patriot, Cassius Clay, aka Muhammad Ali, who beat people senseless for a very good living, but was so against violence he was awarded conscientious objector status, thus avoiding a trip to Vietnam with the rest of us. Even more disgusting is that fact that his claim to exemption was eventually upheld by the Supreme Court in 1971, and Jimmy Carter issued a blanket pardon (a Democrat, imagine that) for all the rest of the draft dodgers.

Celebrities these days just don't seem to have the backbone that the older guys did. Not a lot of Pat Tillmans among the kneeling swine that refuse to acknowledge what they have obtained by being born in the USA instead of Somalia or some other third world shithole

Al. I looked it up & corrected myself in a previous post. I definitely agree with you. Most of the soldiers who fought in Viet Nam were draftees. They gave their all so we can be free. I was drafted in 1967 & I served. I was stationed in Bankok in 1968- 1968. It was a R & R area. I worked at a field hospital in Bankok. I talked with the guys that fought in Viet Nam Comming over for R& R. They went thru HELL. When they came home they were spat on & called baby killers. Wasn't right considering what they went thru. Now when I see a VET wearing a hat or shirt that says VIET NAM Veteran, I go over shake their hand & say a hardy WELCOME HOME. You guys deserve it. I know what you went thru. I used to X-ray them in the field hospital I worked at in Bangkok.

I'm sure there are quite a few of the younger generations that will just see headstones and not the meaning of what they stand for.

A very nice tribute for Memorial Day.

And I pray at least as many will look for the true meaning.
