You have to learn how to set the default program to open an image file. Apparently Affinity sets itself as the default. You can change that.
Try right-clicking an image file and choose 'open as' and see what apps you get.

I think you will find that there is an option when you install Affinity to do or not do just that?

Mac and Windows both have a way to associate a particular file extension with a particular application... If you understand the operating system, you can assign a particular program to open your files.

The problem seems to be that installation of a program changed the default association. It needs to be changed back manually.

Exactly. I hate apps that do that. They should tell you how to set the default for the filetypes you use.

I know how to do that but Affinity keeps itself as the default program every time you open an image file. Deleted it! PIA
Photoshop Elements. Not hard to learn the basics. Buy it once and done: no monthly fees.

Elements Only does 8 bit not 16. Does that really matter?

In most cases, probably not. If it mattered a lot, Photoshop Elements would have died off years ago.
I have Photoshop Elements and I still like the Photography Plan with the Lightrooms and Photoshop better.
Hello keywest305.
I see that there have been dozens of other editing products from UHHers above, so let me add my 2¢. My go-to photo editing software is Luminar NEO from Skylum. IMO, easy to learn, cost effective especially with the one-time option (I always stay away from subscriptions).
I also have Corel Paint Shop Pro and Perfectly Clear Complete (now under another name), and have decided that NEO is the best of the breed.
The one downside is that Skylum sells "Extensions" as extra charge for each, or for a bundle. These extensions provide some automatic editing, but IMO not needed, as you can get great results with the base program with the DIY method! Good luck!

This morning I focus stacked 20 images with PS and the same 20 with Neo and Neo was fewer steps and did a better job. The other plugins aren’t mandatory but are very useful.
