The timing was an accident. I did not know Jim. I am an infrequent UHH visitor. I am glad I could give a little humor to soften the loss of your friend. POVDOV.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news from Jim's (Roadrunner) wife Huguette. Jim passed away last night, May 8th at 6 PM. He had been in a coma for 4 days. He was living proof one is never too old to go on adventures and never too old to learn something new. He loved UHH and the folks he met here. I will always treasure the friendship between the 3 of us. He and Huguette spent a day with us on one of their trips. She is so much fun.
I will miss Jim's photos and his sharing of his experiences.

Awesome cloud formations! Those are mammatus clouds and I've always wanted to photograph them! They are a rare example of clouds in sinking air. Even though they're very ominous in appearance, mammatus clouds are harmless and do not mean that a tornado is about to form; a commonly held misconception. In fact, mammatus clouds are usually seen after the worst of a thunderstorm has passed.

Interesting ! I have never seen them up here in Ct. to my knowledge..Thanks for sharing!

Thank you - he frequented a number of places on the forum and delighted in HDR and layering some unusual compositions. His favorite subjects were landscapes of the rural Quebec area in which he lived and the Mt. Morency (I think that's right) Falls near Quebec City. His images appeared in calendars and Quebec tourism sites. And could he tell stories!!
