I had previously posted on my experience, basically, they sent me an estimate and approximate time to repair. After 4 months (past the time they had estimated to repair it), they still had not had time to even take a look at it! And they said, they didn't even know when they would be able to look at it (there were still many more in front of me). And if they needed to order parts, etc, they had no time estimates for that. So a complete waste of my money and time, paying to ship it to them and paying to have them return it. So not sure what happened but enough not to trust them again. It was as if the person handling the intake of gear had no idea of what was going on in the repair department.

I have the Nikon 300mm F4 lens; believe me, it is good. When I am out with it, I am constantly stopped by other people asking me about it ! You can carry it, or use a tripod- it is easy to use

Recently sent my 300mm non VR in they don’t have parts also checked with three repair shops none of them carry the motor or electronics. Trying to decide what direction to go next. Really want a 2.8 for night football. Looking for any suggestions

I posted this first in sports but no responses. Hoping for some thoughts if I should buy a Nikon 300 2.8 VR ll or wait and see if Nikon will update that lens with a new model for the mirrorless bodies. Nikon only supports repairs on the 300mm VRll version

Go get the Nikon 300 f2.8 VRII. I have one. Works great on my Nikon Z6 with adapter for HS night football.
Who knows when Nikon will come out with a Z 300 2.8. I’m sure it will be expensive. In the meantime, you are missing out on the upcoming 2023 fall/winter season, unless you prefer to shoot with a 70-200 f2.8 and wait for a lens that may take a few years to appear and then go on a wait list.

If money is no object, then you can always sell off the 300 VRII when the Z mount 300 comes out, or you can just buy the Z 400 f2.8 now.

I would buy the Z 400 f2.8, but my house needed a new furnace/air conditioner and I’m paying college tuition for a couple kids.

Yes I"m looking right now of replacing it either with a nikon refurbished or B & H used excellent lens. Thought I might try eBay but it makes me a bit nervous about getting scammed.
