Does your camera have a rating option? That's the all-electronic and intended method for 'remembering' specific in-camera images.
I have a 5DMIV and do not chimp. I do not see any of the images until I download load them into LR. It seemed that perhaps there might be something else you could do with LR that I wasn’t aware of. Mostly my concern was the large amount of memory I use when I notice that somehow I turned the camera onto video mode. I solved that by just organizing by file type in the File Explorer and deleting them with the computer. Now I am questioning myself if that is such a good idea.
As Paul noted. Just take your pics,
IMPORT them into LR on your computer and use LR’s X and P feature to select or deselect the photos. Do not try to individually remove pics from the card using your computer. Wasted effort.
At that point you have two copies the photos….one on your hard drive and one on an SD card. If you are connected to the cloud and have a back up service then you will have a third copy.
Keep your SD cards with all the pics. Once home and you are satisfied that you have all pics in a nice little package, have edited your photos and X’d out even more photos deleted all X’d out photos. Do not keep never to be used or seen pics.
Then reformat the SD cards in camera and reuse.

I am currently traveling and after I download the day’s photos from my SD card I then cull my photos in Lightroom. The keepers and “maybes” I want to keep on my CD card. Is there any way I can delete my discards from my CD card using Lightroom? It should be easy because we you download and have it not download suspected duplicates they show as files to be downloaded. Searched the program data base and have not found a solution if there is one.
The the abundance of and lowering prices of SSD memory cards there is no longer any reason to carry on with this method that can easily lead to corruption of your SD/CD Cards.
That's why I keep my SD Cards as Masters & just buy New Ones so I don't have to Delete the Same Card over & over.
Plus... I hear stories that if you Erase or Reformat your DS a lot it could cause some Blow Back for you if you Erase These Cards a Lot to Reuse.

The stories you have heard are just that stories. There are wear out effects but the specifications reputable manufacturers design and manufacture to are such a large number of cycles you would not approach wear out with any conceivable use in a camera.
