With this logic, why bother even having this forum anymore? Just about every subject has been done numerous times. Often, even though a subject has been "beaten to death", I will read a reply with a fresh approach to it and gain a little extra knowledge.

If a "beaten to death" subject irks you so badly that you have to put the OP down for posting their question, just skip over it. No one is forcing you to read it and reply.

I agree.

Silverman,

A photography forum is the perfect place
for your FX-DX question.

Welcome.

I realize that you are new here, but this topic has been beaten to death here and almost everywhere else. My suggestion is to use google to get your answers. Both DX and FX formats have advantages and disadvantages.

Useless post. Go elsewhere. Trolls not welcome here.

How do you figure out the image quality of a camera by going to a camera store?

Take your own SD memory card and shoot all the camera's you have questions on, placing a number of images on the card. then go home and load them on your computer. The EXIF information for each pic will tell you the camera's and settings you used.

Then spend the weekend doing your research.

Now, was that hard?

At your level, the camera you purchased is perfect for you. You might want to also buy one 35mm or 50mm f/1.8 lens in a few months, but I wouldn't rush out and do that now. Here are the benefits of FX over DX cameras for new photographers:

1. Broken back from carrying heavier cameras and lenses.
2. Broken wallet from paying for bigger camera bags and more expensive bodies and lenses.
3. Broken ego from having to learn JUST AS MUCH before you start getting really good at photography, FX or DX.

Enjoy your camera. It is wonderfully capable and the lenses are very good too. If you form an addiction to creating photos like many of us have here on UHH, then think about upgrading. You can do Pro Level Work with what you have as soon as you learn how to use your very awesome gear.

Everyone else talked about the technical aspects. They really don't matter much, though. Just start shooting and learning.

Thanks to all for your patience with a newbie, just getting educated, not wanting to Overkill a subject as was mentioned above, but hoping to gain more Photography Knowledge. I do enjoy the UHH, and I must admit, most all UHH members have been very informative, respectful, knowledgeable, patient, with all of us Newbies.

Cutting through the UHH fanboy fog and biases about formats ,read this from Adobe, as to the advantages and disadvantages of DX (APS-C) vs FX (Fullframe). There are image quality and other differences, just physics and facts.

Full frame vs. crop sensor: Which format is best for you?:

FYI, I have owned and used all formats as a professional for the past 50 years.

Cheers and best to you all from years ago and now.

Get an extra battery and a couple of extra cards and just go out and start shooting. Work on the kind of artist you want to be and just play with the equipment until you’ve figured out how to satisfy yourself. All those other equipment ideas will eventually come to mind, but with this camera, you’re well equipped to have some satisfying artistic results.
