I have my first digital camera which I bought in August of 1999.
It is a 2.3 Megapixel camera and is NOT a DSLR.
Back then it cost $1000 plus $80 in Washington
state sales tax. and it was very new on on the market. It came with a slide copying attachment.
I beleive that Nikon did have a 6 Megapixel DSLR at that time which cost around $6000.
Since digital was just becoming a factor in photography, as a Seattle area freelance I charged and got up to a $1000 a day for adverting assignments and didn't know any better.
A that time I was the Seattle area stringer for The New York Times and went from film to digital
I will post a photo later this week.
Does any other UHHers know if the camera is worth anything besides sentimental value ?
I doubt if I can get 50 cents for the $2,000 Sony I bought about that same time.
My first digital was a Sony Mavica.
I also bought the "floppy" memory card adapter.
I have a 3.2 megapixel Fuji from the same era. I think its worth is zero.

My first was a Casio QV-7000SX with a swivel head. Fun camera, sparked my interest in digital. My next camera was the Nikon D1 in November of 1999. After that, it was a very slippery slope for me that I have truly enjoyed.
I purchased my first digital in 2000 - a Sony f707. It was about $900.

My first was an Agfa for half MSRP price $500 :)
My first was an apple QuickTake in the late 80s, I believe. 640X480- I still have some images somewhere, but nothing can read them now...
Oops- hit the button twice
My first digital was an Olympus Camedia 1.3Mp with the clam shell sliding door that opens to reveal the lens. I can't recall the price but I ended up trading in a couple of 35mm film cameras to be able to afford it. Great little camera at the time.

And those couple of 35mm film cameras are worth more than you Camedia now.

I had this same camera and have many great pictures of my young kids from it. I am glad I had it. I have processed a few of them through Topaz Gigapixel lately with nice results.
My Kodak DC4800 at 3.1 mp was expensive and excellent for its day. Before that, I had a 1 mp, and it ravenously ate batteries!! A significantly-cropped 500 kb JPEG from the 4800 using Topaz AI and gigapixel provided a large clean/sharp JPEG printable image. Amazing indeed.
Chadp had the same experience.
My first was a Sony Digital Mavica purchased in Los Angeles in the late 90's. I still have it, as pictured below. Only problem is I cant get discs for it any longer, so it sits in a cabinet with my other collected cameras from the past.
My first DSLR was a 6MP Nikon D70 purchased in NYC, and I loved that camera. Digital was a whole new world for me.
