Yes, I've often wondered about that. Is there a limit on how much the card would pay?

I know this was a joke post, the OP. I wouldn't have seen it until moved to the Main section. My responses drip with sarcasm as one of my favorite UHH windmills turns with another gust of GAS.

I understand the GAS but if someone has gas why doesn't he just buy it. Why make a post asking other UHH members. How can others feel how bad the GAS hits you?

I like to buy things, but I do draw a line. I drive a Honda Fit, not a Ferrari. My lenses cost less than any car I've ever bought. I look for used and refurbished first, and I've never been disappointed. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, or I was going to make a lot of money shooting with a $10,000 lens, I might buy one.

The sales tax on that would be $760, and I'd have to think twice about spending even that much on a lens.

A friend of mine drove a Honda Fit and had 3 Ferraris at the same time for weekends!

There is a credit limit on the card. I guess that's also the limit for the free tax.

As far as I'm concerned, this forum is as much about socializing as it is about photography. If there were no Internet, people would still buy cameras, but they wouldn't have the variety of interaction we can get here - most of it positive.

Ah, right!

My limit is $3,600 x 8% = $288 sales tax.

That is a drop in the bucket compared to this lens I saw yesterday. If you had 2 million dollars, then I bet Leica might make another one?

Loved this post! I had a 70 to 200 2.8L II USM for when my granddaughter (Gracie) did 7v7 and 9v9. The fields were smaller and the 200mm reach worked fine. Now she's going on 14 and playing 11v11 on the larger fields and I picked up a 100 to 600mm for the reach. However, no way could I afford to get the fast glass of a f2.8 version. Enjoy the memories of watching little Ava play!

Why not sacrifice the car? You know that you're going to get a new one in a few years, so why not now? The lens is something that you will never sell (You'll probably buy another one when a newer and better lens comes out but you'll never sell the one you just bought, you'll have that one for a lifetime, just like all the others you swore to your wife would be the last you'd ever buy).

And why do you need to add just 100mm to your premium 70-200 f/2.8 zoom you already paid a pretty penny for?

Because it was there . . . .

Change to 4/3rds for a cheaper same angle of view. Just kidding. You have chosen full frame for your own reasons. Unfortunately it comes with its own set of cons - one being cost.

I suggest selling the car. If you sell the child to get the lens, you have nothing to shoot with the lens!

Yes! People have the need to let others know what they buy and also the need to have the approval of others. Nobody can stop you buying something but people just want others to say that their purchase is a good idea.

IF I may be serious for a moment Paul, I do love the 70-200. I've got some great shots with it (for me ). Same with the 100-400 and 2x adapter. But the 70-200 is my favorite.
