Looks like an independent decided to make a high quality lens with AF.
Good for Meike.
They get the independent sales that Sigma and Tamron will be losing out on from the largest group of camera users in the world.
Do the math, Canon RF-mount mirrorless users aren't the largest group of camera users in the world, DUH ! CIPA numbers show that 50% of Canon's total worldwide camera sales are in DSLRs, and additionally much of Canon worldwide sales are in compact and bridge camera sales.
The reality is that the E-mount is the most widely produced and used mirrorless lens mount in the world. And Sigma, Tamron, Samyang/Rokinon, Zeiss, Tokina, Viltrox, Meike and others all sell loads of E-mount lenses for Sony users which are the largest group pf mirrorless cameras users in the world, NOT RF-mount users.
Do better research and know the facts before you make your Canon fanboy blind-loyalty statements. LOL
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_third-party_Sony_E-mount_lenseshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sony_E-mount_lensesCertainly Sigma and Tamron would love to be allowed to make and sell RF lenses, but they wont hold their breath waiting on Canon, and they are doing quite well making lenses for mirrorless E-Mount , L-Mount (Leica, Panasonic, Sigma mirrorless cameras), Nikon Z-mount, OM-mount, as well as still making lenses for Nikon ,Canon and Pentax DSLRs.
The number of Meike 85mm f1.4 lenses for RF mount that will be sold wont hurt Sigma and Tamron's bottom line, or cause them much worry. Just a fact.
Dont get me wrong, I think it is great that Canon has approved an AF RF lens from Meike. IMHO Canon should also approve the big boys of third party lenses, Sigma , Tamron and Samyang/Rokinon . But since the big boys of third-party lenses do make lenses that would compete in IQ and performance with the best of Canon's own RF lenses and at less cost to the buyer, Canon might not want that right now.
Cheers and best to you.
