You were meant to see this and capture it's photo. Good seeing on your part and be ready for the unexpected. Excellent. BTW, I am excited to see you posting again.

One morning last week I noticed this Luna moth sitting in one of our backyard bushes. This moth is not extremely rare, but a daytime sighting is, since they a nocturnal creature. It stayed in that spot and never moved a millimeter all day but was gone by 9pm.
They can not and do not eat and have a short lifespan, a week for this moth would be a good week. They live for this short time and for one purpose, to mate.
Also their travel is apparently guided by moonlight, so I’m guessing this moth coming out on a clear, full moon night was a plus.
This one was good size, approximately 5” from wing tip to wing tip. A pretty cool critter and one that many people will never see.
Just a quick phone shot.

Really pretty luna moth!
I looked it up, and found out they are a giant silk moth. We have them in Arkansas, maybe see one, or two per year.
