My wife and I will travel to Fort Hancock, every October. Less crowded. I see from your one shot they are restoring a couple of the officers’ housing. Sadly I think they will be tearing down some of those units.
The good news you have documented them before they are gone.

In the first two the tree is telling us where to look and is directing the show. I congratulate you, ebrunner, and the tree for effective photography.

Thank you. As mentioned above, the idea was not mine; but I'll take credit for execution. Thanks for taking a look.

Looks like a roofer is badly needed! Nice images. Really nice use of that tree.

I don't know if they are planning to fix the buildings where the roofs are collapsed; but I did see People working on the roofs where it seems the building might be salvageable. That is a good sign to me. These buildings are so interesting, it would be a shame to just let them crumble. Thanks for taking a look.

I like these Erich, they are a credit to the trouble you take. Quite a bit of work required to sort some of those buildings too!

I believe those buildings were officer’s quarters. Some, if not all, were available for long-term lease. At least two were rehabbed. My family rented one unit thru Airbnb shortly after the pandemic. It was the perfect Covid vacation, isolated and near enough for us to drive. The lighthouse, birds and sunsets over the bay also provided many photo opportunities.

I'm hoping they can save most of them. Some, as you mentioned, will have to be torn down.

Thank you for the compliment. I know the fort is not used anymore and they are just old buildings; but I think any money spent restoring them is money well spent.

I did not know that they are available to rent; but I think that is fantastic. I think you are right about the houses being officer's quarters. Thanks for the information and taking a look at the photos.
