The pic of the showroom with the chrome framed settee and chair is reminiscent of the Chevy dealer showroom where my Dad worked as parts manager for over 30 years. I remember sitting in those kinds of chairs waiting for my Dad to close the parts counter on a Saturday to take us kids to the movies.

I remember the dealerships covering their showroom windows for a few days when the new cars had arrived. To build up anticipation.

Beautiful shots of great cars. I always wonder when seeing photos in the shop how many of those mechanics are still paying weekly to the tool truck for those boxes and tools.

Beautiful! Most of those cars, in that condition, would sell for $100,000 today.

So you see you can't compare cars to cameras. You can find cameras that old in great condition but they are worth very little. Cars got replaced because they are broken and no longer work not because the newer are that much more desirable.

Absolutely stunning!
What an era to be young. The garage dual hoists, not seen one in a long time.
Oh and whitewall tires, they really belong on those cars. I wonder if it is too late to bring them back at affordable prices of course. IMHO, they could be the thing to spruce the boring designs of today look alike cars.
Thank You for posting!

When I see these old photos, I'm reminded of my first job in a "service" station(That's what they were called in those days! <smile>): It was in 1956, a Richfield station, on Monument Blvd, in Pleasant Hill, CA. And, my buddies coming in at night to use the lift to work on THEIR cars. . .And, one incident, in particular, when John Turner came "flying in." "I'll do it myself," as he positioned the car on the rack supports. Grabbing the air control, he began lifting the car (without paying attention). . .He had NOT positioned the car evenly; and, as the car lifted up into the air, it tipped over in the lift bay; and, began to slide off the rack supports. He only noticed what was happening when it was too late; and, the car had crashed into the wall of the station! But, he still never stopped applying air to the lift until the car was almost on its side! We had to tie a chain to the car; and, drag it out of the lift bay on its side! When we got it outside in the parking lot; and, tipped back level, John's first comment was "You guys wrecked my paint job!"

In the morning, I had to explain to my boss why the lift bay area was turned topsy-turvy. And, Turner was told to go "elsewhere" to get his car serviced!

[Priorities were much "simpler" and "straight-forward" in those days! <smile>]
