Let me start with "Uncle Willy" - not my photo of course, and probably not his bike either (studio's?) - mother's uncle. Probably a holiday photo, and the crest suggests the studio had some claim to royal patronage - oh, I see by Google that the firm had a "Warrant of Appointment from the Lord Chamberlain with Authority to Use the Royal Arms", announced in the London Gazette for January 8, 1892. A quick search found one other Lettsome portrait using the same studio furnishings (but no bike and undated).
Can anyone suggest a date for the photo? William was born in 1871 and died in 1914, so I have it pinned in the range of say 1892 (because of the warrant) to 1914. I think these are pneumatic tires (invented in 1889?). The brake might offer a further narrowing of dates, but I'm not about to pursue it. And I know nothing about dress styles, but it seems to me he's not wearing a "wing" collar.
Let's see what interesting photos of bikes you've encountered! Spring is upon us ! There will be lots of people enjoying a ride! Variety would be fun to see! I'll be looking forward to see what you come up with!!
Alot of great pictures of bicycles. Thank you everyone for sharing.
Here's a few I've collected over the years.
Some great bicycle “sculpture “ and captures. There is something heartwarming when viewing some of these old bikes in the settings that you caught them in.
