I watched "Glass Onion - Knives Out" on Netflix last night. Excellent! It's done in the style of the old fashioned mysteries. There are lots of characters with motives, lots of complication, and a brilliant detective. It has an all-star cast with Daniel Craig is amazing as a southern detective.

Did you watch the first Knives Out?
We watched the first Knives Out - a wonderfully done classic mystery. I wondered why the screenwriter chose a Southern gentleman/aristocrat for Craig’s character as most detectives in movies usually have a somewhat seedy background and are from some big northern eastern city. There is conflicting information online as to whether the movie was based on a book. Craig’s southern accent is said to be based on a Kentucky inflection in my googling research. Having grown up in the South, I’ve never encountered anyone who spoke that way. Of course I didn’t interact with Southern aristocracy. The only place I’ve ever heard that inflection has been in movies about the South. At least the movie portrayed the Southerner as a smart, crafty individual instead of as a bumbling, racist country bumpkin.

I like Craig character much better in "knives out" than in his James Bond movies. But I think that's because the script writer for the newer Bond movies made Bond too sentimental.

Funny. To me, he just sounded southern.
The English seem to be very good at imitating American accents. I sometimes have to Google an actor to see if he is English or American.
We watched Glass Onion and found it to be very good as well.

You’re right! Saw that movie a couple of times. Very entertaining. I love the southern drawl Daniel Craig used.
Enjoyed both Knives movies. If you want something really far out, try “The Menu.”

We watched the first Knives Out - a wonderfully do... (

I'm originally from the Boston area and in all my life I NEVER heard anyone else who spoke with whatever the Kennedy family's unique accent is/was. Purely an affectation from what I could deduce.
Interesting you should mention the movie The Menu along with comments on the Glass Onion. Both had a similar ending.

Oooh! Now you ruined the ending. 🤣
Thanks, I'll look for it.

Hugh Laurie as Dr. House is particularly good.

Yes, excellent. That was quite a role change for a funny man.
