That involved about 8 employees out of thousands of employees. Yes, that was bad but overall Ebay is a safe site to do business with. I am a top rated seller with well over 10 years experience selling 100's of items.
EBAY IS A SAFE PLACE TO DO BUSINESS. I might ask how much business YOU have done with the company.

Please have a look at my earlier posting that was very positive about eBay. And...it only takes a few bad apples to taint ANY companies' reputation. The fact that this had at least some approval from a few in the upper management team can't be overlooked.

And....I've bought a lot of gear of all kinds (photo, electronic, tools, even a van!) from eBay with only a few tiny 'glitches'...overall, I'm totally satisfied with my time there. I've been a member for 24 years, have racked up almost 1,500 transactions...and have a 100% approval rating, so I'm not exactly a 'newbie'...

I do appreciate your perspective, but the "Optics" of stories such as this are never a "Good Look" for any organization.

Your post is misleading. It fails to explain that with Ebay you get 30 days if the product is NOT AS ADVERTIZED. Meaning, if you don't get the product, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK, if the product, in any way, is not as advertised, meaning, if the seller says it works, and it does not, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK, if the buyer says it is in MINT condition, and it is not, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK, if the seller says everything works on the camera, and you find that something does not work, YOU GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
Ebay is VERY SAFE, I have sold 100's of items on ebay and bought well over 1,000 items off ebay.
And yes, I have been SCAMED a couple of times, but I have always, GO MY MONEY BACK.
So, Ebay is SAFE and the BUYER IS PROTECTED.
It' too bad folks sometimes do not know Ebay gives a 30 DAY MONEY BACK guarantee NO MATTER WHAT.
I hope this post helps folks understand Ebay protects you. I have never been let down by the folks at Ebay.
And like I said, I am a TOP SELLER on Ebay and will continue to use them because they are SAFE.
Your post is misleading. It fails to explain that ... (show quote)

You are mislead, i have some pro friends that get shafted by Ebay, just a fact. They sold used pro DSLRs in good shape to buyers on Ebay. Before the end of 30 days these buyers told Ebay that the cameras came damaged and not as advertised. Ebay always sides with the buyer and my friends lost their sales money and got back now obviously used and now damaged goods back, one looks like it was dropped from high onto rocks or concrete, others had dents and broken parts and broken screens. So these pro sellers who trusted Ebay now have no money and now have unsaleable damaged goods.

It seems to be a common scam on Ebay, as long as the seller within 30 days can show the equipment was "damaged" or not in the stated condition, they get their money back and they have had a free use of a pro camera. While my pro friends have gotten shafted.

Don't assume that you know what happens to others on Ebay, just by your own experiences, you don't. Check Ebay's rating on BBB and see some of the reports. We have had more reports of Ebay scams posted here in UHH in the past, just the facts.

I and a host of my fellow pros have shared these stories in many real pro forums, not UHH, LOL. I and my fellow pros wont ever transact with Ebay ever again, Feel free to do so at your own risk, not this pro, ever.

UHHers stubbornly believe if it hasn't ever happened to them, then it cant possibly happen at all to anyone, LOL, LOL.

Cheers

I am a "top rated plus seller" on Ebay with well over 10 years experience. I am sorry your friends feel Ebay is not a safe place. As for me, I have had a few problems over the years and like any business I have delt with them. But I have found Ebay to be a safe overall place to do business.
