Since there is now a discussion about UPS, let me give you just one example of how bad USPS is in St. Louis.
I have all my packages delivered to an independent owned hardware store, hence avoiding Porch Pirates. One package to be delivered Saturday by USPS was never delivered. They claim the store was closed during their attempted delivery at 9:30. Interesting since the store was opened at 8AM, and staffed by four employees.
That is typical of USPS here. Maybe it is better where you live.

In my world of central Florida here is how they rank for us (We live in the country & get lots of deliveries, so this is real info).
Best to worst: No. 1 (tie) USPS & UPS, always good, no issues.
No. 2 Amazon Always good now, sometimes to wrong house early on, but very good now, almost into No. 1 group.
No. 3 FEDEX (I used to call them "FEDUP" but they have improved).
No. 4 LazerShip OK now but horrible early on.
Separate category:
No. 5 Various private local or trucking companies - seem to do well (local deliveries) and trucking outfits seem to be very good with larger items like wheel/tires/large TV/furniture/etc.
To be fair: House is set back, wooded driveway (100 ft. in) gate with security (driveway) monitor, Video when coming thru gate into yard. Signs (two places showing address, mailbox and next to driveway entrance), beware of dog (nowdays it's a 3.75 LB Chihuahua indoors - LOL) and signs for No Trespassing & Warning/Video Surveilance/monitored on the gate (always closed but not locked).
USPS & UPS, always on time, always delivered to my house and not somewhere else, rarely any damaged packages, I know I can count on them both.
Amazon does a fine job, missed or wrong address very rare now, I can count on them.
FEDEX, has improved a lot in the last year, I used to dread them prior, but not so bad anymore.
LazerShip has also improved, almost all packages were trouble early on.
