Sad... I like their information.

Well that's four links for reviews of the cameras I have that will go away. Too bad they are not in document form, ie. PDF... I'd save them.

If you use Windows, Right-click and choose "Save as Webpage". You will have it saved to your hard drive and can view it with your browser.

With the latest cuts Amazon job cuts in recent months are about 27,000. Financing DPreview might have been more about poor optics than anything else. People are demanding higher wages but balk at higher prices. Go figure. There will probably be more shake ups in the industry.

I'm happy that the two guys I really enjoy at DPreview will still be around.

The guys that do YouTube videos for DP will still be posting on camera gear, so at least we still have that.

This now the FIFTH time this link of the PetaPixel video from Chris and Jordan has been posted in this thread. Does anybody ever go back over the previous pages BEFORE posting the exact same links again and again ?? LOL

Cheers and best to you all .

That's too bad, I liked the banter on the site during questions and reviews.

In my opinion both guys are not as good as the original guys that built up the original DPR to a splendid site. Sorry!

Chris and Jordan were sales guys at The Camera Store in Calgary, Alberta. They started a YouTube channel there. DPReview recruited them to set up a DPReview YouTube channel, a separate venture linked to the original DPR site. So they never worked in Seattle full time.

Phil Askey and his wife founded DPR. He's the original guy you're talking about. He added a bunch of employees and freelance people over the years before selling the site to Amazon in 2007. So it has had several managers and several owners over the 25 years it's been around. Early on, it was based in the UK.

But the site isn't any good after Amazon took over. It used to have a lot of information not any more.

Was any company ever improved by being absorbed into a conglomerate? Resistance is futile; you will be assimilated. --The Borg

OK, Sony bought Columbia pictures and others, and have done well with them (but they bought Columbia from Coca-Cola, so...) I wonder why Amazon even bought DP Review.

Remember how brilliant Buster Keaton was until MGM put him under contract? He was never much good again until Lucy hired him to write for "I Love Lucy." (She was exactly his type of clown--perfect.)

Nothing beats the purity of original entrepreneurship. Successful founders had a purpose. But they get tired and greedy, or sell out to get out.

That is why I missed the DPReview before Amazon which was over for a long time now. So now I don't miss it.

This is now the third posting of this same youtube announcement in this thread, LOL.

No one reads anything but the last few comments, LOL

It is all good, Cheers

I try not to post redundant opinions, comments, or advice. If I accidentally do, it is a matter of TIME. Since I am still working and do have many other responsibilities and have not time to read over 110+- pages, which is ofttimes infighting and unmitigated silliness. So, I answer the OP's question or respond to the thread and go on to other things.

I tend to complain about rude, sarcastic, and "trolling" behaviors rather than redundant posts. Now that DP Review is closing down, perhaps it is time to somehow refine THIS site, eliminate the nonsense, or simply move onto another site where there is a better degree of moderation and the administration is interested in quality content rather than "clickbait"!
