Your options are plentiful. There are the E-M1 mkII and mkIII along with the newer OM-5 and OM-1 (with even better menu systems). OM-5 was selected by a couple of industry review sites as either the best travel camera or one of the very best. It would work for all photography. The OM-1 was designed for sports, birds, and wildlife in mind (which you have indicated as not a part of your style). And there are the Panasonic cameras (G5 and up and GH4 and up). I have both the E-M1 mkII and mkIII bodies. I would recommend either as a good replacement if you do not get your E-M1 repaired. My suggestion is to take your time and go to both a new camera store and a used camera store if they are close by. This will give you a real and better idea of what you really want.

There are plenty of OMD pre owned out there. My suggestion would be to look into newer models as the bodies are capable of so much more and all of your lenses will work fine

The OMD EM 1 is a fantastic camera. Send it to an Olympus service center for repair. I had mine repaired by Olympus about 1 Year ago. They will give you a quote first.

The E-M1 is very outdated. Poor auto focus, and slow sensor readout. The Mark II is a great upgrade; responsive auto focus and much faster sensor readout. The AF improvements are valid for street photography; people move and you want to be able to track them. The sensor readout is fast enough to use electronic shutter for most situations, and that means quiet operation which is also useful for street photography. The disadvantage is the switch from tilt LCD monitor, which does impact street photography if you are trying to be indiscrete.

My Olympus OMD One Mark I arrived from KEH in pristine condition with a two year all risk warranty and a free camera carry bag for a total of $360, with free shipping. I am very pleased.

Excellent!!

I'm in the same boat because a month after Olympus repaired it, my OM-D EM-5 has been getting hot and using excessive battery. I think it's time for a new camera.

Did you try a new battery first?

I had 3 Olympus batteries of varying ages. #2 was swelling so I discarded it and bought a new Wasabi battery before I went on my trip to Thailand. First time I have tried Wasabi. The whole sorted story is here:

The camera seemed ok before I left on my trip but then it started getting hot, during or after shooting, and battery life was greatly shortened. Toward the end of the trip I was barely getting through a day on 3 fully charged batteries. I was getting the following no. shots from two older Olympus batteries and the brand new Wasabi battery:
#4 Wasabi 0926-0873 = 53
#1 1019-0926 = 93
#3 1092-1019 = 73

Do batteries sometimes swell up, making it hard to remove them from the camera?

All batteries swell up at the end of their lives. So if your battery is swelling it's at the end of life and it is recommended you discontinue use and replace it.

It is caused by changes in chemistry as the battery ages.

" ions move through a sea of goop called the electrolyte, and as you keep charging and discharging the battery over time, that goop begins to decompose and produce gases as a byproduct. Once enough of those gases build up, your gadget's batteries could start to visibly bulge."
