Been thinking a second camera body for a long time and mirrorless was the way I wanted to go. I was close enough to “pulling the trigger” that I went to my local camera store (Shiller’s in St. Louis) to ask some questions I’ve had. After hearing responses to my list of questions I asked one more; do you happen to have a used Z6ii in the store? They did, and the salesman pulled out a pristine Z6ii body from the display case. To shorten the story, I bought it and the FTZ II converter. The body came in the original box with all accessories, some still factory sealed, saving me $650 compared to buying new. When I got home, I took a few test shots and found the shutter count to be 2206. Big learning curve ahead but my David Busch book will arrive today to help me along.

Sounds like you got a great deal. I bought a Z6ii to go with my Z9 a little over a month ago, but haven't had a chance to really put it through its paces yet. Busch's book was a big help getting it set up. Something that really surprised me was that the Nikon manual was actually a big help, also. Usually, I just immediately jump to either Busch's or Young's book and skip the user manual.

Enjoy your new toy!

I think you'll like the Z6 II. I like mine, used from MPB.

Sounds great, buying excellent used gear is a great way to have the best for less. Enjoy.

Cheers and best to you.

Used is the only way to go. I can't afford the high prices of buying new. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

I have no problem buying used. I just bought a D850, 200-500, 24-70 2.8, and a 70-200 2.8 all in excellent condition. The lenses were less than half what they would have been new.

I'm so glad you mentioned Schillers, a leader here in St. Louis. I know there are other "local camera stores" in nearly every major station. We need to support them, so they can take care of us.

I'm from the area and Shiller’s in St. Louis has always been my "go-to" first stop to check out what new has come in and to buy from them. The folks there know the trade and I find their advice valuable to my buying decisions. I've bought three cameras and six or more lenses from them, both new and pre-owned.

Good deal! I bought my Z6ii direct from Nikon during their recent refurb sale - saved $600 off new. It also appeared new, mint, except everything was repacked in bubble wrap and plain white boxes (no retail packaging, but well packed). Shutter count was -0- but I don't know if Nikon "'rolls back the odometer". Anyway working great with the 24-70 f/4 S lens also refurbished, and still covered under the Nikon 90 day warranty. Some sellers will extend that to 6 months or a year.

Wasn't that long ago that refurbs and other used from any manufacturer were "keep this to yourself." Not so much any more. I don't have a single bought new lens or body in my kit. Well done!!

All of my gear is used with exception of a Canon 24mm I got on Amazon. Used is the way to go if you don't need the latest thing. I simply cannot afford "new" equipment. All my gear is in excellent condition and does what I want it to. MPB, KEH, Amazon, eBay, Roberts etc. are all great used gear options.

Agree with you Steve, used or refurbished is the way to go. Glad it worked out for you.
