Seeing Spots?

When you drive your car, do you see black spots in front of you? You should. The spots are on your windshield.

Modern windshields are glued in place, and there is a black stripe around the edge of the windshield to help hide the glue. To make the transition from clear to black less harsh, they add those black dots. All that black coloring is baked onto the windshield so it's going to remain there. Another reason for the black material is to absorb heat. The glass must be heated so it can be bent into shape. The black absorbs heat better, making the glass heat faster and more evenly.

They're seen in some, but not all, car windows, especially with Polaroid sunglasses.
Occasionally, some car windows will look purplish.

I'm sure. They move around. When the black spots on the windshield start moving, I'll park the car.
