Nice picture. Thanks for posting. I live about 15 miles west of where she is berthed. On my visit, as an amateur radio operator, I was permitted to use the radio station onboard the Big J and was able to contact the USS Alabama in Mobile Bay. The tours offered are great. I served aboard the USS John F Kennedy (CV-67). Battleships are unique in the armor-plating and size of the main batteries. The guns are impressive!

Thanks again.

Although a different generation of ships, the USS Texas has a lot of recent videos from her current dry-dock restoration.

Fantastic. Have always loved the Dreadnoughts (Yes I know the "Dreadnoughts were WWI. I'm using the term due to its large size.) 🤗

The New Jersey fired over our heads from off the coast of the South China Sea when I was in VietNam in 68-69.

I was there the same time and we were told to stand off at least a mile while she fired her broadsides. Impressive sight.

Long Beach, California was the scene in 1982 when the Big J was put back into commission.
This was the view just before the new crew was about to activate the ship.

Paul...When the New Jersey was recommissioned in 1982 she was out fitted with state of the art communication systems. The engineering plant was also up graded. The fire control systems with CWIS and missile system were also installed. At the time of the commissioning she was a modern battle ship. Not sure what you mean by she was from a different generation.
