A very interesting talk about "The Truth About AI Getting "Creative" by Mark Heaps, the Senior vice president of brand and creative at Groq Inc. and Jesus Ramirez of the Photoshop Training Channel.

Thanks for the link Fstop, it’s well worth watching - and doesn’t change anything I wrote previously in my comment. It does expand the AI issue for those only thinking about image creation too.

It's the death knell for a lot of professional photographers.

At some point...there will be little need to send a pro photographer anywhere on assignment.

Far cheaper to just create it....so that's exactly what will happen...econ 101.

I am older, but younger than many here. I do not give a crap about the future. Our generation and the previous ne destroyed the kid's future, so…

For info, my wife and I decided NOT to have kids when we were married (1983) because we saw where all of this was going.

So AI? Really, you are worried about that?

When we got married friends of ours also decided to not have children because of “where all of this is going.” Sixty six years later with four loving children, six loving grandchildren, and four loving great grandchildren, we are overjoyed that we didn’t see “where all of this was going.” By the way, just where did it all go?

When the masses become more and more dependent on AI doing things for them, the future will belong to Hackers that can manipulate the software to their advantage. For those who believe that getting their accounts and personal information hacked is a bad thing, "You ain't seen nothing yet..!"

For many emails I have to look at the header info to see that it really didn't come from that company.....

A friend, who is in to AI, provided me with a proprietary program. I started playing with it, and discovered some interesting things.
The attached started out as a photo of the sun, so it was a photo.
Or not?
I’m just posting to show the capabilities of AI. I’m almost 71, and started out in photography at 16 with a Nikkormat and a Durst M600 enlarger. Many hours spent in the dark room, enjoyed it, but digital opens up a whole new world.
I understand the “purists” might not agree.

Gee, kind of like at some point there will be no need for the average photographer to print his/her own images at home... Wonder how many of us NON PROs are buying new printers ?

Ultimately, will the “Terminator” movies… and the “Borg” in space movies turn out to be true???

At a minimum, it appears it will make us lazier and less likely to develop our own capabilities… as previously mentioned

For anything color… I am giving up. My current color printer, and a previous one, were clogged up beyond me fixing them.

For B&W text, my old Brother laxer keeps chugging away.

The future of AI is interesting and probably more challenging than just thinking about it's use in photo editing.

AI is going to have a significant impact in how work is done in the future and jobs that are done by humans will be done by machines and other robotic forms in the future. So for young people, how do they prepare for employment in the future.

An example I observed recently is machine equipment used in managing trees in a residential setting. Our HOA decided that trees were getting too large and doing too much damage to driveways, sidewalks and curbing. In two days one individual using a boom and a huge grinder removed a dozen trees and ground up all the brush. Previously this work probably would have required more time and more people.

Hmmn... Is not AI, which came from the brain of Homo sapiens, not a result of us developing our own capabilities ? You can argue till the cows come home if this is a good or bad thing, But the fact remains that the mind of man, seemingly in an endless search for knowledge, has put us on this path.
