Richard Belzer R. I. P.

I was sorry to see that Richard Belzer has passed away. He was a funny guy, and he also did a good job as a detective on Law and Order. He was 78. You might have heard of the "27 Club," consisting of entertainers who died at 27. Maybe there should be a "78 Club" because I see so many people dying at that age.

He wrote some good "conspiracy theory" books and I have seen some of his lectures. RIP.

Tom Sizemore had a brain aneurism and is in critical condition. He's only 61.

Belzer's last words were typically irreverent, if the Internet is to be believed.

Read somewhere that he and Henry Winkler were cousins.

I was living in New York City in the late 70s when Belzer was an institution at Catch a Rising Star comedy club. When we went there we were always thrilled when he was on the bill. A witty, insightful and caustic comic, he was a treasure for all who were able to see him in person. Good times…

I remember him as Captain Hook in the Miami Vice episode: "Trust Fund Pirates"

Correct!

Henry Franklin Winkler was born on October 30, 1945, on the West Side of New York City's Manhattan borough. The "H" in his first name is a reference to his Uncle Helmut, while his middle name refers to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He has an older sister named Beatrice, and is a cousin of actor Richard Belzer.

One must go back and watch the cult movie classic, The Groove Tube.
He was one of the first of the Saturday Night Live gang. Very funny man.
