A Small Orchid Plant

I gave this plant to my wife on Valentines Day last year. When the last flowers dropped, I assumed that she would just discard it. She didn't, instead she kept it watered and fertilized. Her persistence resulted in the plant producing even better blooms than the original ones. It is destined to be in bloom for Valentines Day again this year.

Small, but beautiful. My wife grows a bunch of orchids all the time. When they seem totally spent she throws them out in a shady area next to the house and they miraculously regenerate and bloom again. She has plants that are several years old now and still going.

Congratulations to your wife; her persistence paid off well. I like your composition but your flash is a little over powering. Will your camera let you dial it down?

I have been enjoying Orchids for several years And yes, they regenerate and produce more flowers. I’ve got a couple of them that have bloom twice in one year. They are lovely.

The shot was made with sunlight shining through a single pane picture window. The camera was set to auto speed and manual F stop.

It's magnificent - and apparently thrives on love Personally, at my house, we have been responsible for the demise of at least a dozen of these - not matter how we have cared for them Anyway, a great phaleonopsis portrait here 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈

Yes, they come back if you take care of them. They are easy to take care of. I have several.
