S & E Asia 208 - Hong Kong 13: Yuen Long - Market scenes and street food experience
In this continuation of yesterday's market scenes at Yuen Long, I dwell briefly in the meat and fish section, from where I present one "imponderable" item. I would love to have your input, if you can give me an idea what this product is.
While on the subject of food, I am adding a few pictures of a lunch we had with part of our Hong Kong/Vancouver families. We were sitting right in the area of the Yuen Long Market, at a very basic outdoor table of a simple street-side restaurant, which served some quite delectable food. The last 3 images were taken at another restaurant in Yuen Long, which we visited for dinner - and to all of you, we say: "Sic Fan" - let's enjoy the food!

#4 Looks like dried Puffer fish.
Nice set, Joe. I have never cared for Asian cuisine. Makes for great images, though.
Thanks Bill for the effort - I have never heard of or seen a Venus Flytrap, so I looked it up - I can see why that picture reminds you of that flower, but I don't think that's it. Thanks for your effort.

Thank you for looking in on the travelogue again, and your thought on this unknown food item. I looked up the puffer fish, and while there is some resemblance, I don't think that this is it, as puffer fish apparently are very poisonous. But thank you very much for your effort and coming along on the tour!

Thank you Ken, happy to hear that you enjoyed the pictures though you would not care for the food - we all have different tastes, and that is quite ok for me!
More of your impressive tour, Joe! #4 is just scary.

Thanks Mike, I agree, that item in #4, whatever it is, is definitely not a representation of beauty to our eyes!

As usual Joe, your food shots make me hungry!! While we planned and are making a pasta meal tonight, I am very hungry for some of the delicious asian food, you shot so well!
Perhaps we will be getting some Chinese food in the very near future though.... The vibrant veggies, water chestnuts and cashews all look so inviting, how could I not?!
As to #4, could that be dried sea cucumber? Complete guess!
