Question for those who sell their work

I have a few lighthouse photos and was wondering is it better to include the name of the lighthouse and town it's in or would be better to skip. Please look at the example and let me know.

Type is fine if it doesn't get in the way. Yours is too heavily stylized. Thinner would be better so as not to compete with the image. And I would not set it in the lighthouse's space. Placement in any of the corner areas would be better.
I have sold many with type. If unsure, understate it.

I think it depends on how you perceive your images. The posted image is more like a document since the name etc. is very prominent. If you consider your images more like art than I would suggest using the place as part of the title and not part of the image itself. After all, it's the image you're trying to sell, not the location.

I mat mine and put the description on the bottom center of the mat, in small letters.

My practice is to never include an embedded title on any photo I sell. Most buyers purchase prints to display and defacing a print with verbiage diminishes its display value. I do follow what the poster who replied just before me does - I sign the mat with location details if buyer requests a framed, matted print. Of course I would always accommodate the buyer’s wish if he/she asked to embed it in the photo. But - as others have said, I would never put such a description prominently across the image as you did in your sample. Under what circumstances would anyone be interested with a description that competes with the subject? If you do decide to put that title in your print, I strongly suggest the you reduce the typeface by at least 60% and place it discreetly in one of the lower corners.

I haven't tried selling the only lighthouse photo I have with any description on the photo, it seems to be quite popular without any.

I prefer no caption but if I included one it would be a much smaller font in either bottom corner. The way you positioned it looks like a postcard to me.

I don't sell my work, but I will say that if I was a looking to purchase a photo of a special place that I liked, I would not purchase a photo like that. Place a description in the border if the photo has one, or if the photo is matted, put it there instead. Just my 2¢.

I have sold numerous photos, and only place text of any kind by hand on the matte if it is appropriate.

My personal preference would be to include the information elsewhere in the post and not actually on the photo

I include a business card with the details. Also title, sign and date on the back in pencil.
