9:00PM last night I ordered 2 portable hard drives. Amazon immediately thanked me for the order and said they would be delivered Friday. 5:00AM today they sent a message that order will be delivered today. Is it any wonder they are growing so fast with this type of service? Love-em

I've been ordering from them for years and only had 1 issue that they took care of quickly. They have just finished building distribution warehouse in this town so that should make some purchases even faster. I know not everyone has good experiences with them but I've been very happy with them.

I'm happy with them too.
The only thing they wouldn't take back from me was some spray paint.
Amazon delivers to my doorstep. United states post office doesn't!
They send me maps showing where there delivery vehicle is and how many stops before
delivery will occur. After delivery they send a photo of the package at my doorstep.
What took them so long? A week ago, I ordered 2 SSD drives in the AM and they were delivered the same day at 3 PM. Sometimes I wish I lived in the country, but living in suburbia has a few advantages. Be sure to look to see that the item is stocked by amazon. If it is fulfilled by the seller, you can't be sure of such fast delivery. Additionally, some of Amazon's Resellers are selling fake memory products, just like many any other sites (check Youtube before ordering anything from WISH). It is easy to modify the code that the computer sees and reports a larger size. Last year, I bought 5 supposed hard drives from Amazon which were priced too good to be true... and were. They were supposed to be mechanical drives but were just an old memory chip inside reporting many Terabytes. The read and write speed up to 32 GB were less than USB 1.1 standard. Writing any more than 32 Gb probably would have wrapped around and deleted previously written data.

I have a cat statue on my porch and they always include the cat in the photo. One driver even turned the cat the right way after I had accidentally bumped it out of place.
It's smart on their part to make the location photo more accurate. A photo of a package on cement is too generic.

I've been using Amazon for a few years, easier to buy from them than from the supplier!!

Amazon is convenience.
You sit on your butt and order something. No time in traffic going to the distributor. Amazon has a pretty good record on stocking things (although when there are problems they're not immune). And distributors don't like to keep stock because it's a cost center. Not only do they have to keep things in stock, a lot of states tax inventory at the beginning of the year. So they keep as little inventory as possible, which means that the local distributor is frequently out of things. At least they seem to be out of what I want about half the time.
Amazon is sometimes cheaper but not always. I have not kept records of how much it costs to get to the distributor.
My first Amazon order was in 1995, when they were exclusively a book seller! The one thing I do sometimes find a bit irritating is their "dynamic pricing." You look at an item, add it to you list but not buy it. A month later it could have gone up in price or down.
I recently bought a snow blower. The first time I looked at it there was a $50 shipping charge. The next time about an hour later it was the same price and no charge, so I bought it. That was $400 cheaper than Home Depot. It came to the door, FedEx two days later, between snow storms.
After it came I went to look at the assembly video, and the blower was $50 more that I paid, but still "free" shipping.

Price changing has been a problem I have seen before. Several years ago I noticed that if I looked at an item but didn't buy it the next time I looked the price was higher. Sometimes it would happen over just an hour or so. Haven't noticed it lately.

Back then I had a website selling books through Amazon. I set it up with a friend and we donated the proceeds to a local orphanage.

I get the feeling they have an algorithm that tries to determine from your browsing habits if they can close the sale by lowering the price, or if you're already hooked so they can bump up the price a bit.

Speaking of donations I'm not happy Amazon is discontinuing the Amazon Smile program that lets customers direct a contribution to the cause of their choice.

I'm not happy about that either and the charity I have selected really depends on that money.

I am another convert too! They are amazing. I would better spend my time doing something other than traipsing around shoos only to be told “we don’t have that”.
