Yep, thought so.

Glad you solved it, with a bit of help from some of us.

Cheers and best to you.

It's refreshing to see a question asked that includes the pertinent information for others to base their answers/replies upon. My compliments to you.

Try resetting to factory defaults on the menu.

Interesting Problem – My Nikon D850 is skipping every other f\stop and speed (up or down). Speed example – 500-1000-2000-4000 (forward or backward). f\Stop 5.6-8-11. This is not the full range of either speed or aperture (lens dependent) but the pattern is the same in all cases. Maybe this will help. Bracketing is set to 0, ISO auto or not has no impact, prime or zoom lens makes no difference, WB is Auto1, M\A\S makes no difference respectively. I have checked the various settings in Menu and cannot find where this could have occurred except to say it is the body and not the lens settings. Internet search “d850 skipping speeds and stops” and similar produced no hit. Any suggestions? Thanks as always. Cliff

There will be a menu setting somewhere that determines the size of the increments of the exposure adjustments. It's possible that you're used to using increments of 1/3 stop but you've inadvertently changed it to 1/2 stop increments (or possibly larger increments if that's an option).

That is what I think is the most logical explanation. It has probably happened to all of us at one time or another.

Yes, I would bet that is exaclty what is going on. I once sent in a camera because it kept changing exposures on every shot even though I hadn't moved. Nikon sent it back with instructions on how to turn exposure bracketing on and off. Duh..

Don't need your experts. The issue was resolved yesterday, and posted on page 1.

Why ? Thaz unreasonably drastic for an obviously minor error.

That's not "skipping" at all.

That's every "full" stop. Aperture f/1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, etc. Shutter speeds 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000, 1/4000 etc. ISO 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400, etc.

Most modern cameras can be set to your choice of full stops, 1/2 stop or 1/3 stop (aperture, shutter or ISO... or all three). That will be somewhere in your menu.

I use full stop ISO, but 1/3 stop shutter and aperture on my Canon cameras.
