How do you transfer your stuff from Costco to Shutter? I have not received any directions or info on how to do that. I halve to do that and find the Shutterfly site to be very slow and non responsive.

They do it automatically once requested.
You should get an email from Costco regarding the transfer.
OR- maybe log into the Costco Photo website.

Thanks for posting this. I have been using Costco for my photos for forever and was never notified of this change. The deadline for transferring is 1/27 so this came in enough time to transfer all of my photos with them to Shutterfly

I will be interested to gain your insights, Jack. My photos transferred overnight, so that worked seamlessly. I usually create books for us and our traveling companions when we return from a cruise. Our next one is coming up the end of this month, so February will be my first test. Poking around on the website showed me there are lots more options than the last time I used them for a book.

Hi Chris, I just got off the phone with Shutterfly and Costco, both calls were frustrating. Shutterfly does NOT make a book similar to Costco, so the online pricing is not a fair comparison. During my call, I had the Shutterfly agent design a comparable book (hard cover, 30 pages, 8x11), their cost to me (including the 51% discount), came to $39 per book.... that's the same book that I'm paying $20 for at Costco. AND, they don't do any better when it comes to pricing on their Metal Prints..... easily double the cost, even with the 51% discount. I was told that it would take 24 to 48 hours for my photos to transfer to my new Shutterfly account. A quantity discount was calculated if I ordered 25 photo books..... the cost came to $600 (I just ordered 20 books through Costco for $360.25 including shipping & tax).

Armed with this information, I called Costco Customer Support (855-620-7579) and let them know what they have done to this part of their customer base. The agent was very sympathetic and recorded my rantings along with my Costco customer number and email address. I know this is not going to reverse any business decisions, but I feel that I had to vent. The Costco agent told me that their department was deluged with calls from upset customers.

I had an email on Wednesday with information about transferring my Costco files to Shutterfly. I did the steps last night and this morning logged into Shutterfly and a quick look shows my files are there.

In 2022 I started a small book at Costco and then the same book at Shutterfly. The app looked identical, so I suspect that Costco had already transferred its app to Shutterfly or adopted Shutterfly's book app in advance of this change.

I have had good results with both in the past. I just completed a book of photos from my float trip through the Grand Canyon and used Blurb. I am very satisfied with the output from blurb.

can you forward that email or the instructions or post them here please. Thanks

Who does what automatically? Was on Costco site and didn't see anything about a transfer.

See the PM I sent you - you go to Costco at Shutterfly.
THEY automatically transfer. But you have to have an account at Shutterfly to transfer to.

Jay - following the email from Costco on 1/5/23, I went onto Shutterfly to make sure I still had an account with them. Then yesterday I received another email from Costco where they provided this link to transfer my photos:

https://accounts.shutterfly.com/costco

I had to enter my Costco membership #, and followed their steps; they said it would take 24-48 hours to transfer and would send a confirming email when complete. Got that email early this morning and confirmed that all my photos, as established in the folders on Costco had indeed transferred.

Next for me will be to produce a book - but that won't happen until I return from the Panama Canal in February.

Here's a link to the Shutterfly/Costco site where you transfer your ACCOUNT. The Costco Membership Number is found on the back of your Costco card.

I've been with Costco Photo for a few years now and have had very few complaints on their work or quality. Most of my prints have been on metal and I have sold several. I also have a Photo Book being printed so I called Shutterfly to see how their books would compare and all I get is the "Political" type response that "Our books are much better and with the 51% discount, you can't go wrong".

Costco has an office here in the Phoenix area but they would NOT let me come in and see, for myself, how the books would compare. Obviously, I was not impressed with our discussion. I put a lot of time into the design and layout of the book and it looks as though I'm going to have to repeat all of my efforts, no matter who I end up going with.

If anyone has had previous dealings with Shutterfly, I would appreciate reading your response.

I have used Shutterfly for holiday cards, photo coasters, and about 15 photobooks over the years, mostly travel and weddings, with no problems at all. If you use the advance editing option, you have full flexibility in designing your photobooks, and I have been very pleased with the results.

The books are high quality, both in their construction and in the image quality of the printed photos. I highly recommend Shutterfly -- just be sure to use their frequent sales to get the best prices. Once you become a customer, you will get a constant flow of emails with discount offers.

I received the email to transfer the photos from Costco to Shutterfly and everything went seamlessly.
As a long time Shutterfly user, I would recommend to everyone new to using their services to take advantage of their frequent discounts and coupons, especially for shipping and handling, which seems to me to be quite a bit higher than other services I have used. Their quality is generally very good, and if there are any issues with your order, they will reprint it at no charge pretty quickly. I have always had good experiences with their Customer Service Department whenever I have had an issue.

I rarely do photo books. I mainly used Costco for prints. Does Shutterfly offer the same printing services as Costco?
