Some of my favorite bird shots. Our bird bath saw lots of action this summer and well into fall.

It is with sadness that I share with you the loss of fellow UHHer "Lorima" (Lorina Michelle Adkins) on August 13th. Many in this thread knew Lorima and her distinctive photo style. She was only 57 and had battled cancer for many years. She was born in Christ Church, NZ, and lived in Colorado with her husband and two sons (of whom she often spoke or posted). Lori was known for her love of family, baking, flowers, horses, nature and her photography. She was a sweet soul who came up with some extremely creative images and always an encouraging comment on the posts of others. As I recall, she also loved Disney World and traveled there with family during a time of remission.

In May 2022, Lorima hosted a challenge on birds. I had been reviewing the 2022 challenges and realized I'd not see Lorima in quite a while so, as one of her FB friends, I went to her page and that's how I learned she had passed. I searched through her UHH posts and have selected several of her images that are testament to her talent and some of the subjects she loved.

Part 1:
It is with sadness that I share with you the loss ... (show quote)

P25 So So sad to hear of Lori's passing, she was so brave in battling her cancer and will be such a loss to her family and to all of us who knew her on UHH, some of her winter shots and wildlife scenes were amazing, thank you for showcasing some of her work Pat

It was one of those years when life seemed like it kept wanting to go sideways,
so other than vacations, I really didn't have the time to get out and capture the
wonderful world around me.

Most of these images were from The Outer Banks. Hope you enjoy.
Tim

P37 That last piece of work talks to me, well done my friend

We've reached the last day of 2022 - already!! A time of reflection. I pulled together some interesting (to me) statistics related to the challenges.

The challenges began as a "picture a day challenge" Jan1, 2012 with this post by Photogrl57 (not our Lesley AKA Photogirl17)

"Not sure how long this will last but I decided to challenge myself and make at least one photo everyday this year of something I normally wouldn't shoot.
So here is my first entry ....
I was out hiking in the mountains today and this tree just spoke to me. Not sure why LOL.

Feel free to post yours if you are up to the challenge."

January1, 2023 will be the 11th Anniversary of what is now known as "The Challenges". The format has undergone many changes

In 2022, we hosted at least 57 challenges (not including Free Sunday). Categories included topics that fell into one or more of the following categories: Nature/Scenic/Seasonal, Still Life, Techniques, Creativity, Architecture/Art, Colors/Letters and 3 "NO HOST" Half of the topics were related to developing/improving/attempting a photographic technic.

There were:
5 people who hosted on a regular basis (9-13 times and Larry who did 40+))
10 Who hosted once during the year
4 who hosted for the first time

Thank you to everyone who helped out. You are appreciated and needed to keep the challenges going.

In these 11 years we had 3 Photopaloozas in which a number of us met up, met each other and shot together. #1 was in Denver and hosted by "RiverNan", "SHer", and Georgette. #2 Was in Portland Me hosted by yours truly with help from "Bushido"(Richard), Judy Juul, "Clicker" (Sharon) #3 was in Phoenix hosted by PJ (Kelly) Reed

And that's how we began

I am attaching the January Calendar Congratulations everyone! SO many of us have become "cyber family"!
We've reached the last day of 2022 - already!! A... (show quote)

Thanks so much, TimD! I hadn't done any abstracts for
quite some time, so I was kind of pleased with that one.

Seriously considering turning that into a wall hanger,
but can't make up my mind on size, or whether it should
be printed on metal or glass.

Any suggestions are always welcomed.
Tim R

I suggest metal with a brushed effect, WHITEWALL is the company you need, get all mine done there, first class work

That reminds me to dust my medium format camera off and run a roll of film through it just for fun
Saw on the internet yesterday a company selling some inserts so you can run a roll of 35mm film through a medium format camera giving you a panoramic print, could be interesting
