Ordered some things on Amazon today and before ordering I was was told I had 2 day delivery. After ordering I was told delivery would be on Saturday……Jan. 7. I guess it’s not going to be shipped until Thursday.
A lot of backed up X-mas deliveries. And depending who the “actual” Vendor is makes a difference on delivery times.
It can also depend on which Amazon warehouse has the SPECIFIC item you ordered. One size or color of an item may be available tomorrow if you order in the next 2 hours 3 minutes (for example) but a different size or color of the same item may take days.

The Amazon web site says weather is delaying deliveries...

The airlines move a small to medium-sized, lightweight packages, and you know what happened to a lot of flights.
Also, Christmas and New Year's on Sunday, so many places Monday or Friday, or both, are a day off.
Next day delivery on Amazon is slowly going away. They promise next day then send a message the next day changing the date. It's happening more often than before. It started months before Christmas. This is my experience and wonder if others are having the same.
If it shipped by USPS, it can mean absolutely anything.
On the opposite side of the coin: I ordered from Amazon at 10:30 a.m. and it was delivered at 2 p.m. the same day. I do know how annoying it is when before you order it says delivery in two days and after ordering delivery is changed to many more days.
I noticed delivery is scheduled a few says after order and by Fed Ex and USPS. My order arrived the very next day by Fed Ex. The USPS order should arrive today. Amazon usually delivers in their vans so the use of Fed Ex and USPS was a surprize.
Just remember, USPS is closed today. Their Sunday vacation day is moved to today.
I ordered a couple SSD drives on December 26 around 0600. They were delivered at 1030. I was in Oconomowoc, WI, and the originating warehouse was in Kenosha, WI.
If I had asked for delivery to Honolulu, they would have been delivered in 4 days.
I've gotten some things overnight and some things a week later. A lot depends on who is actually shipping the item and where they are located. I have three projects help up because things won't be delivered till Thursday, and considering UPS, they will probably arrive Thursday night.
At times, Amazon says something like, "Order with two hours and receive it on Wednesday." When I place the order, the deliver day is Thursday or Friday. That's still pretty quick, though.

A USPS mail delivery vehicle just drove through our neighborhood (1/2/23, mid-morning) but only stopped at one house. They were making early AM deliveries of packages for weeks before Christmas and then delivering mail at their regular (for us) time late in the afternoon. They also delivered packages on Sundays, so maybe this is just clearing up backlog.
It usually depends on who is actually shipping the item. Not everything bought on Amazon is shipped by Amazon. There are a lot of retailers that are Amazon affiliates and depending on them may be the issue at hand. I just ordered some special metal stock from Amazon that won’t be here till mid to late January. Shipped from China.

I've ordered from Amazon and Walmart and had same day delivery. (Invoice said two days) Good thing I was home. I like getting things delivered immediately after hitting the submit order key. Other deliveries are helter skelter.
I'm seldom in such great need that I can't wait a few days for it. Otherwise, go to the store. It won't kill you!
