Looks like a great fixer-upper.

Nice photo Cany, but I always have to wonder about growing up and living with the air quality in a house constructed with Creosote soaked Railroad Ties.

There are quite a few such 'creosote-soaked railroad tie' houses in the area, Jack, and --no surprise-- most are within a few miles of the D&RG rail line originally laid in the 1870's. While I personally wouldn't know how it might've been to grow up/live in one of them, I was informed by an old-timer who had that --on the upside-- the creosote kept the spiders and snakes at bay, but --rather disturbingly-- all his kids were born nekkid!
Great shot and find, Rick.

Great, great picture. So much to see besides the house. Gives an idea of what was once and the terrain.
An interesting photo indeed, Cany - I like the composition as well as the subject. A beauty all its own. It was not exactly the life of Riley for the inhabitants it seems. Didn't realize that Thompson Springs was that close to Moab. What, additionally, caught my attention was the mention of the D&RG Railroad. The history of the D&RG makes for some captivating reading. Although D&RG's initial lines were all narrow gauge, they did have some standard gauge lines as well, which, although I am not certain, may have been the case for the line running through Thompson Springs.
And I thought that was the original Dutton homestead.

Not to worry, the windows are open so the fresh breeze will give you pure air.

Up past the suburbs outside beautiful Thompson Springs, Ootah.
This one took me by surprise. Clear blue sky taken near mid day, this is not your usual storm in-the-background moody setting. But as the pano with everything in sharp focus and everything well balanced makes it through the brain's checklist that distinct Cany143 signature stands out.
Kind of curious what the little building on the left is. Too small for a stable. My eye keeps looking at that big chunk of stone above it, expecting to see a face of some kind.
I try to pay attention to things and learn a thing or 12 each day. I have to admit a house made of used railroad ties is a new one to me.
