Purchased camera $778.00
Shipped with tracking
Tracking email says delivered
Go outside not there
Go to post office,
Long story short delivered to my neighbor (per GPS on mail truck)
Trust my neighbor, he did get it, must have gotten porch pirated
eBay denied any claim, seller won't communicate
Post office said to file clam but need the sellers name and address to do so
Home owners needs a police report and has 500 deductible
Filed a claim with Mastercard see what happens
Purchased camera $778.00 br Shipped with tracking ... (show quote)

I've been there. Better to have things shipped with signature required. It can screw up a whole day waiting for the delivery but unless you absolutely can't be there it's the way to go.

Deliveries are usually photographed where they left it. With that photo I would file fifth charges against my neighbor. Take a photo of his porch compared to the one they sent you and that proves it was left at his house.

You also have the GPS showing their house. Either way I'd file theft charges against your neighbor get the GPS information file the police report first.
Good luck.

No photo taken, GPS is where the mail truck was when package was scanned.

GPS is proof it was delivered to the wrong place.

This is not an eBay problem. This is the carrier's problem. Have you talked to them and filed a claim with them.

Mastercard will fix it. I dropped and broke a 65" TV and they replaced it.

This is why as shippers we try to remember to get a bit of insurance.

As long as these district attorneys are soft on crime this will continue. I believe in King Hammubari's code an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth. In the case of stolen items off a porch when they are caught cut off one hand.

sorry, I never felt this way in the past but enough is enough.

The DA in Bay Shore, NY, is a republican. Long Island is generally republican. Hammurabi (correct spelling) might have believed cutting off a hand was appropriate, but we tend to be more civilized than than. Most of us. Jesus taught us 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.'

Why would anyone buy anything off e-bay. It's a risk and not worth the hassle.

A better question is why would anyone have anything delivered to their residence with all of the porch pirates out there. Spend a few dollars a year and get a small box at a UPS Store. There is always somebody there to receive and sign for packages.

I can’t tell you the number of packages that were “signature required”, but delivered without one, or the times a package was shown as delivered on the carrier’s site but showed up a day or two later, or left at the street in the rain 500’ from the house. My personal experience has been that UPS is the worst offender, followed by FedX ground and only rarely USPS. Amazon is by far the best.

Btw, the stated terms of sale mater here. If the package is FOB origin, the buyer “owns” the product (and has responsibility for insurance filing in case of loss) when it leaves the seller’s dock. If it’s FOB destination, the title to the merchandise passes when the article is delivered to the buyer and the seller has the responsibility to file any insurance claims up to that point since he still owns the product. No idea what EBay’s terms of sale are.

My experience has been USPS is by far the worst. I literally had to tape a sign inside my mailbox telling the carrier that "This is not 104 Meadow way, please check mail" as I kept getting mail for a house a few blocks over. UPS is second worse and FedEx and Amazon have been awesome.

As I said in my post, USPS changed the rules for signature required with COVID, and now the carrier can sign for the package instead of the recipient.

LDB415 is correct. I always ship SIGNATURE REQUIRED when I send photo gear, and ask sellers to do the same. It only adds a few bucks to each shipment. I offer to pay the seller the extra funds, but no one has ever accepted the offer.

USPS revised rules for signature required due to COVID, so the carrier can sign for the package instead of the recipient.

Yep, all depends on who’d driving the truck. I know my USPS carrier well (and always remember him at Christmas).

The seller has little responsibility in this situation.

You'll have to deal with the carrier...porch pirate...neighbor or not...

They delivered to the wrong address.

Outside of insurance on your part....the carrier is responsible...good luck!

The seller has full responsibility in this situation; the carrier is "hired" by the seller to deliver the package, and insurance claims must run through the seller.

The seller doesn't sound like a wonderful human being

It's not that at all; the USPS has GPS tracking data indicating that they delivered the package to the wrong address. eBay would like for the recipient to run around the neighborhood trying to track down the package, but if it's missing it is the carriers fault, which puts the responsibility for filing insurance claims on the seller (who took out the insurance and has the necessary paperwork including whatever proof of value is needed).
