For those us over about 40 we probably aren't aware that Hollister is a clothing brand - not a place in California. It is very popular with young people all over the world. I am not sure how the name Hollister became a clothing brand.

Color would have certainly been nice but to me the amount of contrast in the scene along with it's quite somberness just yells B/W. Different strokes for different folks.
That's right different strokes etc. The only way I like B/W is showing lines, textures, vanishing point etc anything else I lose interest really quick - but that's just me.
Personally I think you hit the nail on the head with your black and white rendition. Nicely done!
It’s a nice, well-done shot, and i really like that you did it in black and white. It suits the subject well.
It has atmosphere and interest.

I like it.
(I, myself, would have gone about 5° to the right to get the entire canopy.)
D’Accord. The missing corner.

Personally, I like the black and white. A little more of a dramatic effect. Also, the B/W ha more detail especially on the canopy. Why does the color show more of the canopy? Anyway, nice job.

I like environmental portraits and this is a great example.
My vote is for the BW shot because it tells a story. The color is rather static.
Very nice. You've captured the essence of the scene. Color isn't required to express the mood of the scene and the action captured. Great street photography work.

With the whole canopy in view you get the background lights which I think are a distraction . I like the first one better but then I am far from being an expert.
