Taken in Istanbul at night with an Iphone 6. Processed in Lightroom and denoised and sharpened using Topaz denoise and sharpen apps. I would like your opinions on the composition and general esthetics.

I like it.

(I, myself, would have gone about 5° to the right to get the entire canopy.)

Nice but nicer in color - I don't understand why you went through that entire process only to make it b/w?

I really like it except that my eyes are drawn away from the subject to the lighted area that appears to be perhaps a subway entrance. I would like to see that area replaced with darkness. Reminds me of something out of Life magazine from the 50's.

Here is the same shot in color. Is it better than in B&W?

See the same shot in color below. The entire canopy is visible.

I like both, different reasons...

Color would have certainly been nice but to me the amount of contrast in the scene along with it's quite somberness just yells B/W. Different strokes for different folks.

While I usually prefer color photos, in this case the B&W has a certain essence to it that the color version lacks. The B&W looks like it has a story to tell, the color is just a vendor's cart, ho-hum.

So what's the story that the B&W could impart the color might not?

I like both photographically, but the have two quite different initial impacts. The sign on the cart displays much better in the B&W and that’s literally the best clue that this was taken somewhere other than central California. Hollister is a LOT closer to Fremont than Istanbul. The only “story” I am gleaning from the images is that if you want to beat the shopping rush do your corn shopping later in the evening.
I’ve seen Hollister used as a clothing brand as a part of that area’s claim to “The earthquake capital of the world.” But if the young man isn’t with you I am amazed that the t-shirt wound up in Turkey.🤓 Nice images… both.

Maybe B&W reminds us of a different era?
