Help With Point & Shoot Adapter. I recently purchased a Panasonic ZS80 as a walk around camera. My main camera is a Sony a6600, but I needed a smaller camera to walk around with. I need some advice for a filter adaptor. I want to be able to use several filters with it, I’ve looked at the Lensmate, Kamerar’s Magfilter, a few others but I can’t find anything for the ZS80. I believe the front is 38mm and I want to use 55mm filters. Any advice is sincerely appreciated, David
I have a simulate camera and used a low cost UV filter as the starting material. Sand/grind off the male threads then epoxy the filter to the snout. With a 37-55 mm adapter ring [$10 Ebay] you are in business.
Alternative epoxy the 55mm adapter ring directly using the same removal of the threads to minimize thickness of the camera combo. But, the large adapter may put excess pressure on the snout when you pocket the camera.
Remember when it comes to camera modifications... you own it and it is none of anyone's business, especially the manufacture.
I have a Lumix zs 100, and had a zs70, which I gave to my son. Both have filter adapters from Lensmate. They both take 52mm filters. They advertise the zs 100, but no lower numbers (50, 70, 80), but if I am not mistaken, they all have identical front surfaces of the lens (which is the surface you see when the camera is turned on).
My adapters are solidly attached with MMM sticky substance. And the adapter adds only a couple of mm, so unless you are wearing jeans, the camera will still be pocketable.
I am just as big a fan of Lensmate as I am of Panasonic.
Good luck!
Thank you for your advise, Lensmate is one of the adapters I am seriously considering.
