Or, the flattop. Even better, with wings. Took a lot of hair gel, though.

I had a flat top. My hair at that time stood straight up naturally, no gel needed.

I like your comment about mocking Old Men, Jerry.
Looks to me like this hairstyle was designed to make short people appear Taller.

And brush off the dust on low hanging house fans.

It does resemble some of the chia heads I have seen now and then.

I remember the flatop. That was also the name of a Dick Tracy villain.

When I got out of the military back in 1968 I wanted to let the hair on the side of my head to grow a little longer and get rid of those "white-walls". So I would go to the barber and tell him what I wanted but I still came out with "white-walls". That happened about five or six times until I went to a shop where one of the barbers had hair down to his shoulder. That's the guy I wanted so I let a couple others go ahead of me so I could get him. As it turned out I still came out with the dreaded "white-walls". After that I decided that the barbers learn how to do one cut at the barber school so I started going to salons and let the ladies do my haircuts. They got it right and gave me what I wanted. That's where I have been going since.

Have you noticed the new hairstyle among "cool" men? It seems to be anti-old man. When some of us get old, we have no hair on top, but lots on the sides. Now there is a new style among younger men: shaved on the sides and very long on top. Are they mocking us older guys? The young men pictured below want to be individuals - with distinctive haircuts. Not much difference here, though. I think this style began as a mistake by a drunken barber, and he convinced his customer that this was the latest hip style.

Those would have qualified for the military when I was in. I knew they wanted clean sides, so I entered basic thinking they would like it. Nobody got out of basic training with any hair.

The last real haircut I had was in Chiang Rai, Thailand over three years ago. Now I just put a 1/2" comb on my electric clippers and it is what it is. Since I don't go anywhere except to pickup groceries curbside it doesn't matter what it looks like.

You to the salons and they want to know what number you want it cut to. I don't do numbers I tell them short on the sides till you can see white and the top less than 3 inches. They tell me what number it is and 2 months later I tell them the same thing and I keep telling them I don't do numbers. That is like doing paint by numbers

Does that make me 3 times older than you?

Probably not. I remember when, at age 14, the price was raised from 2-bits to 4-bits.

That’s the way my uncle combed his hair. Of course that was many years ago. What goes around comes around I guess.

Chris Pikes haircut on Star Trek looks a bit like that. Every time I see it I say to myself, "Yikes."

We are invisible to these younger people, so I doubt they do anything with us in mind.
