PA is good in spring when the rainy season produces the best waterfalls. NY and the rest of New England in the fall, around the first week in October to mid-October. Don't discount West Virginia. The best fall color I've ever seen was in the Adirondack mountains of NY and the second best has been in WV.

Agree on WV. every bit as stunning as NH & VT with far fewer people and much less expensive lodging.

Right down the road from Watkins Glen, only one n in Glen, is Montour Falls, and a few of your posted photos look like they could have come from there.

The USA is a huge country and it has some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet. From deserts to mountains to glaciers to rain forests, the USA pretty much has it all.

With respect to west Virginia, about 20 years ago my wife and I took our two childern camping and white water rafting on the New, Gauley and Cheat rivers. At high water some of the rapids were class 5. Then I was still shooting film. As I recall the scenery was very nice.

Corollary to what bobmculloch wrote (i.e., eastern NY, mid-state and northwards, where there are extremely similar places/views), what first struck me was that I'd have sworn that you'd posted some images of places I've hiked in New Hampshire. In particular, in the vicinity of Franconia Notch and/or The Flume and/or countless other such places in and around the NH's White Mountains. Google it up and you'll see what I mean.

Mr. canon guy. I should have said the photos were straight out of the d500 without post. What do mean by adjusting the color? was there something off with those that I posted wrt the color?

I knew from the funky colors of the thumbnails I'd find an uncalibrated colorspace in the JPEGs if the EXIF was there. Either you're shooting in Adobe RGB, or you have an issue in your workflow. I posted some ideas on this subject, What happens when you set your camera to Adobe RGB?

this year we visited, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, southern Germany in the spring Southern Austria and northern Italy in the fall and saw spectacular waterfalls and water filled gorges. Attached are examples of the places we saw. Not attached are mountain hikes and hikes along very pretty lakes. We saw more than 10 water filled gorges in the fall. I am still sorting through the photos that my wife and I took.
Are there any places in the states that are similar that we can visit in the spring.

Western North Carolina is loaded with waterfalls.

Yes, and you won't have to go far. Michigan's Upper Peninsula is almost the same thing as you have posted. The U.P. is slightly more north but not by much. Your first falls could be found there. Late spring might be OK but I would recommend summer. Your idea of "water filled gorges" may be substituted for the "Pictured Rocks" of the Lake Superior's (GitzyGumie) shoreline. From the water the view is unparalleled. Hiking skills are required for most of the Yoop, as people and their settlements are few and far-between. For reference go to "puremichigan.com."

as you can see, a large country like the USA has much to offer no way can you do it all. as a native of Washington state the Pacific Northwest has it all. mountains, waterfalls, coast lines, high deserts, national parks, rain forests, canyons, gorges, rivers, caves, wild life, and plains. the jewels of the northwest are the Olympic and Crater Lake National Parks.

Thanks to all who replied with ideas. Some of the places mentioned we have been to years ago when I was using digital with small sensors or film cameras.
What was asking is there any place in the USA with gorges filled with roaring water; I think the answer was few or none.
Although Tahquamenon falls is nice it is tame to some we saw in the in Bosnia and Croatia. Maybe a trip to Ribbon falls. The Appalachian steams are nice a might be revisited. We have been exploring the USA since 1980 either camping during the earlier years when the son and daughter were less than 16 or later Airbnb without them as far west the Tetons and Yellowstone, North to the UP, and Minnesota and Wisconsin, many times east to Niagara, southern PA, West Virginia, South and North Carolina Florida, Smokies, Gulf Shores. Our trips to places far away were 3 weeks. I know we missed a lot of sights. I have good memories of canoeing clear Missouri streams. tubing streams in the Smokey's we shouldn't have.
We got use to traveling Europe in 1973 to 1975 when I was stationed in Germany and my wife was teaching School. I had two Pentax Spotmatics, develop and loaded my own film and we traveled in 60,000 Km in a type 2 VW before coming home. While there we saw 2 grand Prix and other races, old towns and spectacular views. In 2000 we took our children on 30 day camping trip from Frankfurt south to Herculin and back.
Looking back we have been blessed.

I need to do more research with respect to visiting the USA. Tent camping is no longer an option.

The Grand Canyon Arizona and Hells Canyon Idaho. the Columbia Gorge in Washington has become tame due to the dams but the upper Columbia River has some spots.
