My wife and I gave up the wedding business, so my photography is now down to a couple of jobs a year, if that, for friends. I would like to find a good simple editing program for the least amount of money. I gave up Photoshop and Lightroom. Any suggestions?

Elements - and the older versions ( pre #12) are quite cheap and are simpler to use without so many bells and whistles !

Thanks guys for all the advise. I think I will look into this Affinity program. And I like what Bill_de said "enjoy my new freedom from work photography" and I WILL get back to the fun part of it. Happy holidays to everyone!

Buy Affinity and DXO PhotoLab 6 Elite or their standalone products today if you want the Cyber Monday discounts. I purchased both today. I had purchased the Affinity version 1 two years ago. Happy hunting.

Another "Freeware" Photo Tool is IrfanView. It has been out for a LONG time and does a GREAT job of file conversion. It ALSO does photo editing.

Photoshop cs6 was the last version that Adobe sold. It's available on ebay for reasonable prices.

Ok I just did a quick look at Afinity and the DXO Photolab 6. Couple of questions,
-Afinity has a V2 universal package for 99.00 and the standard one for 49.00, is it worth the extra to get the V2 pacage?
-I was impressed with the DXO Photolab 6, is it a stand alone system or does it need help from another product like Photoshop?

The $99.00 AP purchase is for the entire suite of products including page layout (publishing) and graphic design (vector graphics). I assume you only need the photo product -- Afinity Photo v2 which is on sale for $40.99. For $40.99 you get an excellent raster photo editor with a rudimentary ability to convert raw files. NOTE: It does not have a file browser or organizer of any kind.

DXO PL6 is a stand alone parametric raw processor. It is not a raster editor. In that regard it is comparable to LR but as an editor more capable than LR. It does not provide a database like LR but does have a file browser. Extensive retouch work or composite work like switching heads between photos type stuff will require you get another app (like AP) capable of raster editing.

NOTE: DXO PL6 is superior software for what it does -- in many ways the best available -- however their pricing, advertising, and delivery options raises an eyebrow. You'd think for example buying the elite version of PL6 you'd have all the foundation basics of a complete photo editor -- think again. You're using PL6 elite and decide your image would benefit from a four corner vignette. That feature is missing. After a few bleep bleep bleeps you find out they included it in the film pack and there goes some more of your $$$. So you need to look carefully at PL6 and make sure you know what you're getting and not getting.

The $99 package includes two non-photo programs: Designer (line and vector art) and Publisher (books, brochures, magazines).

If all you want is edit photos, you only need the $49 Affinity Photo.

The editing software that comes with the camera should do the trick.
Maybe this will work for her. https://in.canon/en/support/0200583602
Good luck and stay safe,

I use Elements, but I also dabble in FastStone and Darktable. They are all good.
I like Elements, esp. when I add Tony Kuyper luminosity masks and Elements+. They are great additions.
