I am enjoying your photos of Saigon. I was a Huey pilot in Viet Nam during the war in 1967. I was very lucky as I was assigned to the 120th Aviation Company based in Saigon for ten months. I lived in a villa on the main drag going from the airport to down town. I haven't been able to locate it on your maps, as I'm guessing a lot of the names have been changed. I do have a lot of photos I took in Saigon and might like to post a few if you don't mind.
Even though we were in a war, it was considered pretty safe to go downtown to go shopping, sight seeing, and just being a tourist. The comparison between then and now might be interesting.

Beautiful pictures Mark...I know exactly where the Hotel located - Dong Khoi St, a very luxurious and expensive area for tourists. So much have changed around Saigon River Front now a day (Ben Bach Dang): Luxury homes, condos, shopping centers,...Enjoyed!

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed them Saigon. Our visit was in 2007. I'm sure that it's more built up now. Many luxury shops in the hotel building as you'll see in upcoming posts.
