So happy you had time with your daughter, Jim, and
you will continue to be in my prayers. God bless, and
love you, man!

Happened to notice this little guy drinking nectar from the flowers. Even caught a bonus red eyed fly passing through.
Sorry I didn't get to participate much. Looks to have been a terrific Free Sunday,
Hi "Rolk",
I honestly was just about to suggest the very same thing!! You beat me to it.
This is so very important at your Dad's stage in life and the chances are slipping away rapidly.
I was smart enough to realize this when my Dad entered his 9th decade here on planet Earth. He has been gone for quite a few years now but when I decided to try and capture as many of his WWII / service related memories as possible I realized that no matter how fast I could write a recording device of some type would be necessary.
This turned out to be a Walkman cassette machine and it proved absolutely invaluable.
He was in the USAAF (original designation for the current USAF) and flew the B-17 (Captain) with 22 missions over Germany and surviving with, literally, hundreds of holes punched in his beloved B-17 ("Heavy Evie" - my Moms name was Evelyn and, no, she wasn't at all heavy) over the course of these 22 missions. He also managed to lose only 2 crewmembers during this time and until his death he felt he could have done more to save these real friends of his.
Give it a try and best of luck.
All the best to you and yours Rolk (especially Pop!),

Hi "Rolk", br br I honestly was ju... (
show quote)
Actually, Terry, I was giving the advice to Transbuff (Bob). My dad died in 1964 when I was 15, but the advice is still valid for anyone whose parents are "getting up there;" do what Terry said, have many, many conversations with them and record them; ask about their parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles; see what they know about their grandparents and even before that.
All the best to you and yours as well, Terry!
