z9 files not found.

My work flow. I plug the z9 into the USB of the computer.
Make a new directory in the computer , then just drag the directory from the camera to the computer .
I can move or copy them as needed. ( weddings copy, Birds etc I just move them)
Today I get, files not found.
when I look at the camera screen , the pix are there ...
when I go into the card , nothing there...
any ideas why?
Did you try another USB port or reboot the computer?
Did you try another USB lead?
This came about a couple of weeks before.
It is likely that the pictures are on the card, under a different directory.

Could that be supported by this;

which suggests that the computer is recognizing the camera but the location has no files within it?
I am aware that there has been a bit of heartburn with the new Z9 hi efficiency raw files. I know that the editors did not see the files, not sure if that has been resolved or not.

Software needs to be pointed toward the right directory to find anything.
When a camera reaches a number of images (10,000) it created a new directory. That directory is invisible if explorer (or whatever a mac uses) is not pointed to it. The same goes for all software looking in the wrong place.
'File(s) not found' is a generic message that does not say there is no file on the drive, just that there is none where you are looking at. Now if you use disk properties, and it says 0 files, you are potentially screwed.
Do you have a reader for your memory cards? I find that more reliable than a cable in the camera. Sometimes one of my older cables do not connect reliably. Also, have you tried using the wireless connection? There are several options for file transfers on a Z9…

Donwitz, I agree. A reader is much faster than the camera when transferring photos to your computer.

Not a good way to transfer photos, IMHO. Try using a card reader and proper software. If you can afford a Z9, you can afford these accessories. Best of luck.
