She should love it Thomas. Beautiful portrait.
Don
why are here irisis so dilated?
toxdoc42 the studio is virtually pitch dark, the only illumination for ambient is the modeling lamps on the strobes so I can see to balance the multiple light sources... Albeit back in the day Spanish Ladies use to do the infamous deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna) to dilate their irisis (bella i.e. Beautiful -- donna i.e. Lady) That is where the toxicological name for this tropane alkaloid – most notably Atropine and Scopolamine came from...
As a Chemistry Major I was fascinated with BioChemistry... such an intriguing subject... which I'm certain you're aware of... Oh, btw, do not even think of using belladonna for a portrait session... seriously dangerous stuff...
Hope this helps toxdox42
Yes, I am actually a clinical toxicologist, trained as a physician in the discipline. You might enjoy my book, Medical Toxicology, Antidotes and Anecdotes, published by Springer in 2017. One of my most famous cases is that of Charles Cullen, nurse who murdered hundreds of patients, and the subject of 2 Nteytflix movies, The Good Nurse and Capturing the Killer Nurse. The latter includes an interview with me, and will be released by netflix tomorrow, 10/11/2022
Awesome toxdoc42... I figured with your moniker that you would appreciate the Belladonna analogy...
Amazing how far those Spanish Ladies went to have alluring irises
All the best on your amazing journey toxdoc42...
Sounds like you had an intriguing career!
Cheers!
I know nothing about toxicology but I have used scopolamine patches for motion sickness. It went behind my ear and that is how I used to ride trains for days on end. And I love the image of Melanie. She reminds me of the Little Mermaid. Especially with the hair and pearls! Beautiful.
