Anyone have experiences/recommendations for birding tours in Ecuador?

I suggest you inquire to Libor Vaicenbacher at Photographylife.com. He is a passionate bird photographer who has done extensive post graduate work in Ecuador. I doubt he is guiding, but may know some local resources.

Incidental thought: Yes, I've shot several quetzal birds on various Ecuador trips. But as one of the world's most amateur amateur photographers--I mean really bad, shooting for stupidity and fun--Ecuador has the Holy Grail of subjects. I speak of the Noble Sloth. Should anyone in your group, shout out, "Look! A sloth!", take your time. slowly change your lens. approach or walk backward, experiment with all kinds of apertures.....and your picture will be perfect. With the face of a Garbo, the claws of a Bengal tiger and the velocity of a semi-colon, the Noble Sloth is a holiday from challenges. Enjoy!

My wife and I have been there three times. By far, the best experience was with San Jorge Magic Birding Tour. We just hired a driver/guide. That way you can spend as much time as you like trying to get the right photograph. George and his wife Irina are the best.
