A friend recently moved to Athens, Georgia and took this picture in his yard of probably a common bird but still unknown to us. Can anybody help? Thanks.

My friend agrees that is a female American Goldfinch. Mystery solved. Thanks all.

If you "right click" the image, a menu will display. Choose, "Google Lens". Then use the images to identify the bird.
