Ivinghoe Church.

I'm trying to improve on my sharpening techniques using AFFINITY. The attached image of Ivinghoe Church is a JPEG using Canon DPP v4 (I couldn't think of a way to get the 'undeveloped' Affinity file into the message).
The image has been published here before under the title Pitstone Church (that's English Parishes for you) and can be seen here.
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-755935-1.htmlI've been watching Robin Whalley on You Tube and realised I'm not perhaps exploiting Affinity to its best. In particular the Develop Persona and High Pass sharpening. If anyone would like to have a go at this and let me know what they've done it would help me a lot.
Thanks.
I find that sharpening a RAW file works much better than trying to sharpen a jpeg. At least with On1 it's true.
I don't see anything wrong with the sharpness in your posted picture. There is a point when one over sharpens and the picture develops white around the edges of the skyline, building and tree leaves. As I blew up your picture the church brick looks very sharp. Some of the trees on the left might look out of focus but I'd rather say they were moving in the breeze.
If I thought anything about your picture it wld be it lacks contrast. Increasing your whites and blacks maybe a little exposure will improve the punch, drama. While you're at it if you add a little saturation it will bring out some of the fall foliage. I attached an image with the above mentioned settings.
What a lovely church framed with such a dramatic sky! A tip of the hat for a job well done on staging the camera.
I tried my hand at the challenge, and although it may not be exactly what you are looking for, it was a joy playing with it.

Thanks all for your comments / edits. I had another go myself and that's posted below. I've taken on board various comments and went very light on the contrast as well as warming it slightly. I had the advantage of knowing what the day was like (overcast, blowy, but not cold) and I've tried to reflect that in my latest mod.
It's not Canons best lens and as a local lens hire place has a Christmas / New year deal on I've hired a 24-105 F4 'L' version. Shame the leaves will have gone but I'll be looking to do comparison shots between the 'L' and 'STM' lens that I currently have.
