It can do either. If you turn off the denoise for the whole photo, the face can be addressed separately and the noise reduced on just the face.

Tom I am going to say no on this one or maybe kinda.
Jim Nix has a youtube video on what it does and how it works. https://youtu.be/9ipLVdv3hO8

So does it do just faces.. Yes and you have a switch, subject or all, and the face is seperate, BUT. It is mostly automatic. So in the other apps they have, it does AI, you can veiw the mask and if AI did not get it right you can go and edit out the parts it did not get right. This product does not allow you to do this. I think that is a bad thing at least for me because AI often gets it wrong especially faces.

So it has a trial so you can try it out and see how it works on your images. If you like it buy it if not, I would consider the individual apps which have a lot more flexibility including different models for different things.
Just my opinion, but try the trial is a fact, and try it before you buy it.

Thanks Rich for the info. I have already purchased Topaz Photo AI. I do like it though, as it will make it possible to save photos that I would have gotten rid of before. Thanks again and BE SAFE!!

Hey if it works for you great. If I had it, I would use it as a plug in to ON1 which I could in layers using it's masking options and blend it with the original to adjust the effect to the original image. Usually a work around.

The reason I would not get it is because I have Noise, Sharpen, and Adjust IA already, don't need to spend more money but Topaz Photo AI includes them all at a low price, so I can see how it is attractive to people.

From the Topaz Labs website:

"Does Topaz Photo AI replace existing Image Quality applications (DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, Gigapixel AI)?
We created Topaz Photo AI to be an auto-pilot for image quality. We started with the image quality issues we already have experience in — denoising, sharpening, and upscaling — and will continue to add more features for improving image quality. The other image quality applications will give you much more control over fixing these specific problems.

As we continue to improve Topaz Photo AI, we will keep up with updates to the other image quality applications.

Eventually, Topaz Photo AI will have all the features needed to fully take over the function of DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. At that point, it may fully replace these applications"

Take a look at what Topaz AI Denoise and Sharpen did with a 3 mp JPEG image from a Kodak DC4800. Gigapixel enlarged the resultant clean sharp photo so that a 43" x 33" image could in theory be printed... Indeed,Magic!

I do not yet have Topaz Photo AI which combines the trio.

And that is great too but I think Topaz has been resting on it's laurels. Even with Photo AI how can it compete with an all in one package like On1? On1 has built into it from the makers of Genuine Fractals, Resize AI which goes head to head with Gigapixel. On1 has No Noise AI which goes head to head with Topaz Denoise AI, it has On1 Effects which work in raw and jpg which goes head to head with Topaz Adjust AI and most other raw editing programs do not have effect like these that work in raw. On1 also has portrait AI which goes head to head with Luminar Neo. On1 has HDR multi image merge and single image adjustment . It goes up against Aurora HDR which is now built into Neo. And On1 photo raw is a raw editor, and edits jpg converting jpg into it's own internal raw so the quality while not as good as raw is much better than anything we have seen in the past. This editor goes up against $300 raw editors.

On1 is $99 and with a coupon code JIMNIX20 you can get 20 percent off $79 and you get everything. Topaz Photo AI is $200 buck. Sorry no comparison here.

Don't get me wrong. I love Topaz, I have all their products including legacy which include PhotoFXLab, Fusion 2, Classic Studio, Studio 2 and all their latest plugins except video plugins and Photo AI.

I just think at there are better values out their like On1. Even Luminar Neo which I really like was $99 but now you have to add all it's expansions it is now over $300. On1 has all the expansions built in and you can get it for $79

You may think I am an ad for On1 but I have use a lot of software and to be able to do everything that everything else does, On1 is the best value (but it will not doe everything quite as well as very specialized programs. Like compare to Topaz Denoise Topaz has 4 window comparison of different algorithms which is very helpful and time saving no other product has that not even Topaz Photo AI and which is why I still use it for noise over anything else, but On1 is almost just as good, just not as convenient or as fast in the work flow, but very usable.

I have Topaz DeNoise, Sharpen, and Gigapixel and got the Photo AI application for free, since I already had these other programs. I still tend to use just the individual pieces; have not gotten into the habit of opening Photo AI if I just want to remove noise, or re-size a photo. I rarely use Sharpen, but it is handy on occasion.

Shoot, I should have bought Gigapixel. I never bought that one and probably would have gotten Photo AI for free too. Bummer.

But I think like you do, probably not uses it, usually only need one of them at a time on pictures, mostly Noise reduction

Tom I am sure it's a great product. As you know I use both Topaz products, Denoise and Sharpening and I think they are great. Please don't mistake by using these products as a substitute for good photography. Personally speaking I use these products as sometimes it makes the difference in a photo being deleted or a keeper, to clean up a shot that has noise problems, etc. I still always make it right in the camera first and foremost.
Again they are wonderful additions, but should be used as a little helper for our craft.
Just my opinion my friend, you have improved a lot, keep at it.

It's yours at no cost if you own the other aps. I use it stand alone, or use the individual aps ad hoc.

Jules
