Thanks everyone...I did set him up with the Justin Guitar free beginner courses and Guitarlessons.com beginner courses as well....so I think we are set for now!

I appreciate the help! If he really starts to get into it and wants to advance...I will find someone to come to the house for lessons.

Cindy, I play classic guitar and renaissance lute. From my ramblings on the web, I think Guitar Mastery Method is probably one of the better ones.

Bob, in any way does your music inform your photography?

Calling all guitar players....my father who is 85 wants to learn to play guitar. What/who has the easiest online courses would you suggest I set him up with? He lives in PA and I live in MT so no way to help him except set his laptop up with shortcuts to online courses. I am willing to pay for them for him.

Who/what website would you suggest I have him use?

Thanks
Cindy

I hope he's not doing this to annoy! LOL

I use to play guitar but due to my brother Keith early death I just lost all interest in playing. Keith was my inspiration to play and since he is gone so are my interests. Wonder what it would have been like if I would have kepted on playing some 55 years ago to today? I still remember my too Gibson guitars I had. 68' Les Paul deluxe, black with an ivory band around the top and two gold pickups with 4 gold knows one volume and one for tone per pickup, Gibson SG Custom triple back pickups along with a cry baby WaWa pedal and a boss tone fuzz tone. To top it off a Marsall and a two piece vox amp.

I'll be 80 in May, and I drug out an old Gibson acoustic guitar during Covid and learned about 4 cords. Then I bought a capo and I can play along with any most any Country music video on you tube. I'm good enough to entertain myself, but not anybody else. One caveat- get him a guitar that has been set up so that it doesn't require lots of pressure to mash on the strings. An electric guitar is much easier to press the strings than an acoustic. My grandson recently gave me an electric guitar and I gave him the Gibson. Can't tell you about on line lessons. My future in the music business is limited by arthritis and mostly lack of talent, BUT I can entertain myself for a couple of hours before the arthritis wins.

Thanks again everyone, I gave him one of my Martin d28's that setup perfect for him. He just wants something to keep him busy since my mom passed a few yrs ago. I have his iPad setup with lessons. We are also practicing video calls so I can help him when he gets stuck!
