I'm nearing my wits' end looking for this item (P. S., if this belongs in another sub-forum, please move).
I have a (very) old Sony Dream Machine (model # ICF CL75iP) that when new, was pretty cool in that it not only served as a digital alarm clock and photo frame, but also as a 30-pin charger for iPhones and iPods. The 30-pin designation should give you some idea of how old it is. The original description says, "The Sony ICF-CL75iP Multi-Function Clock Radio for iPod is more than just a clock radio. The CL75iP docks and charges your iPod or iPhone, has dual alarms, and plays videos and photos on the 7 in diagonal LCD screen. It also features 1GB of built-in memory, inputs for SD cards and Memory Stick media, and a USB connection."
It has been my bedside clock-radio for years. I particularly enjoy putting my photos on it and having a never-ending slideshow complete with the clock showing over the image. But it's dying.
They can still be had, but Sony discontinued them years ago, and the 30-pin connector is useless now, so I'm looking for something newer to replace it.
Do you know how difficult it is to find something like this?
All the current offerings are listed as "smart" devices. They connect to the Internet, have cameras, Alexa (or some such) and use photos stored in the "cloud."
I don't want a smart device. I'm very happy having a "stupid" home, without Siri, Alexa or Google listening to everything I say. Or having a camera in my bedroom. In fact, I don't even want another "connected" device on my already congested home network.
But it seems no one sells such a device anymore. And those that require wi-fi can't use the newer 5G band. Those that have a photo overlay don't have the capacity to store local photos. It's always one thing or another that's a deal-killer.
Does anyone use such a device? Can you point me in the right direction? THANKS!

Have you looked on eBay?
Yes. Amazon, eBay, BH Photo, Adorama, Etsy, and Best Buy. I visited a Best Buy store today (don't do that. It's a miracle they manage to stay in business).
There were at least half a dozen used ones on eBay in the $20-40 price range.

I'm not interested in the same device. I'm looking for a newer product.
Got it! Reread your OP and I stand corrected.
I would move to an inexpensive tablet. Do all you want and more.

Thank you! That's the closest to what I'm looking for that I've seen, yet. It's a trifle small, but if I re-arrange my night stand a bit, it could work. Bookmarked, while I look a bit more.
