Why? Because you do???
What's "important" to you may not be to me.
But so many people cannot understand or accept that.

I felt the need to come back and address this because I saw a couple of people “liked” it. I think this is exactly the opposite spin of what is actually going on here. The question posited in this thread was what are the photographic advantages of mirrorless. There are many and people posted their reasons in response to the question. There were also a handful that have no direct knowledge of the advantages because they don’t shoot mirrorless. These people felt the need to offer nothing to the conversation because all they had to say was they have no interest in mirrorless and that mirrorless that’s some kind of hoax. I couldn’t care less what you shoot if you’re happy with it. But apparently you’re not. Any response on here calling out you old technology was a response to you denigrating newer technology that you know very little about.

My first mirrorless was a Nikon SP rangefinder. Liked it then and it was more affordable than a Leica.
My 2nd was - in fact - a Leica. Sometime later (after numerous SLR's) I bought my 1st Nikon FTN. Been Nikon ever since.

For me the purchase of a Nikon Z6 was simply to have the latest, new-fangled addition to the world of photography and nothing more. I'm happy to say "I am happy to be using it" and look forward to Nikon's next affordable mirrorless just because... Sometimes it is as simple as that!

Age and physical requirements, now using all Leica equipment. Much smaller and a lot lighter than my Nikon stuff. Also great camera system.

Leica is lighter than “Z”?

That would depend on which Leica you are using and which Nikon camera you're comparing it to. As an example, the new Leica M11 rangefinder weighs 455g (body only) while the Nikon Z7 II weighs 615g (body only) making the Leica only 3/4 of the weight of the Nikon Z

Additionally, the Leica or Voigtländer manual focus prime lenses one would use on a camera like the Leica M11 rangefinder are usually very small, and even though they're completely made of glass and metal they don't weigh a lot.

You got an error about the weight. The weight of the Leica is identical to the Z. Theres no difference (per B&H specs pages).

So I put my dinky little Voigtlanders on the Z. If I had chosen the Leica I could never afford the Voigtlanders ... maybe just a home made pin hole.

I reeeeeeally miss that extra 15MP, but the current Sheckels to Pixels exchange rate is just waaaaaay too unfavorable.

I have, and use, Nikon, Leica, and Hasselblad cameras. Can I see a difference between the photographs taken from each, probably not. At least not on 8x10 prints.

My Leica is 71 years old. It was refurbished in 2010. The inspiration for that was I found out about the Leica Freedom Train. That was due to the last living relative of Ernst Leitz having passed. My Nikon is 51 years old. It doesn't look brand new but the results are as good as the day I got it. My Hasselblad is 58 years old and does double duty as both a film and digital camera.

I would venture to say that any digital camera would not last those many years and still function as if it were new. Why I chose Nikon for digital work was simple. I already had quite a few Nikkor lenses.

I agree that it is hard to tell the difference but do you want to put a non Leica lens on your Leica? I know I would never do that.

My M mount Zeiss 35mm Biogon works real nice on my Leica.

I've used Russian lenses on my Leica and they work rather well. But, then, one needs to know a bit about history before making negative comments about those lenses.
